Dentsu Hong Kong has appointed Naomi Chan (pictured) to lead its sports and entertainment offering in Hong Kong, reporting to Wai Chung Au, managing director, media, dentsu Hong Kong, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE confirmed.

In this newly created role, Chan will work closely with dentsu's Greater North Asia sports and entertainment leadership team and specialists across the region as sports and entertainment remains a strategic growth area for dentsu Hong Kong.

She will be supported by an integrated team across media, creative, experience and partnerships, and will focus on strengthening industry partnerships and delivering business growth for the agency's clients.

Through dentsu's unique sports and entertainment capabilities, including access to the broader dentsu Japan network and its deep expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, culture and IP partnerships, the agency is well positioned to help brands create meaningful connections with audiences in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and beyond.

Chan first joined dentsu Hong Kong in 2021 as business director, bridging the gap between complex data ecosystems and high-impact media strategies, ensuring dentsu's client partnerships are both robust and future-proof. Previously she was the general manager of Mome.

Meanwhile, Chan succeeds Jan Lee, who stepped down as managing partner and director of dentsu Entertainment in May.

In an era where information is ever-evolving, people's content consumption patterns have undergone a transformative shift. Dentsu realises entertainment has emerged as a truly captivating and powerful channel, enabling people to forge profound connections across diverse cultural landscapes.

Dentsu Entertainment’s IP development capabilities cover the entire lifecycle, from ideation and character design to worldbuilding, scriptwriting, and production, according to the release.

Dentsu as a network works closely with creators, publishers, and other stakeholders to bring these IPs to life through high-quality anime series, films, and multimedia content, uniquely positioned to harness the unparalleled potential of this dynamic landscape, crafting immersive experiences that resonate with audiences on a deep, meaningful level.
