CLEAR marks F1 return with brand activation in Shanghai

As the Formula 1 circuit (F1) resumed in Shanghai this past weekend, CLEAR, the men's shampoo and haircare brand, activated its partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing. The collaboration brought a series of fan-focused events and appearances to the city and the trackside.
According to the brand, the collaboration stems from a core, often overlooked reality of the sport: the physical demands placed on drivers. With heart rates elevated and drivers experiencing forces of 4 to 6G in corners, the hours spent under a helmet present a unique challenge. These so-called "helmet hair" moments, acknowledged by drivers for the heat, sweat, and potential distraction they cause, have become a familiar sight for fans and a talking point on social media.
The partnership seeks to highlight how maintaining a clear head can serve as a performance edge in high-stakes environments. By integrating its scalp science into the motorsport arena, CLEAR aims to reframe the narrative of helmet hair, positioning it as a symbol of focus and performance under pressure rather than a mere distraction.

From 13 to 17 March, CLEAR launched an activation space in the North Bund Bay area. The venue was designed as a barbershop-inspired environment, blending performance grooming with the aesthetic of F1. Visitors had the opportunity to experience the brand's new Scalp MaxCharge Shampoo for men and get an up-close look at Oracle Red Bull Racing's newly designed RB22.
The activation featured several key elements. The RB22 itself was displayed alongside authentic racing suits and helmets, offering fans a tangible connection to the sport. In a notable visual display, the brand illuminated the Shanghai skyline with a mixed-reality projection on the Citi Group Tower, highlighting the collaboration in one of the city's most prominent locations.

Interactive elements were also central to the experience, allowing visitors to test their skills with a racing simulator and reaction tests inspired by the demands of F1 driving. Complementing the technology was a performance grooming barbershop, offering scalp treatments with the new shampoo and styling services from celebrity hairstylist Shangqiao Zhen.
"At CLEAR, we engineer scalp care products for people who expect the very best from themselves every day," said Mohamed Elsharkawy, global vice president of CLEAR. "Our partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing allows us to bring that innovation to life and connect with fans who share the same ambition to maximise their potential."
