As Labuan Bajo cements itself as a key player in Indonesia's high-end tourism sector, Dusit International has announced the entry of its Dusit Collection brand into the market.
The Thai hospitality group has signed a management agreement with Komodo Property Management to operate Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection, a luxury retreat strategically positioned to capitalise on the region's growing appeal.
Situated just 10 minutes from Komodo International Airport, the development is designed to cater to the increasing demand for premium accommodations in Labuan Bajo. The project will roll out in phases, with full completion expected by Q2 2028, and will feature 63 private villas with plunge pools, 194 contemporary apartments, and a clubhouse offering dining, retail, wellness, and leisure facilities, a release said.

Part of the Dusit Collection - a brand focused on curating exclusive properties in sought-after destinations - the project emphasises a contemporary design philosophy while blending into its natural surroundings. Each villa is uniquely positioned to maximise privacy and panoramic sea views, catering to travellers seeking an elevated experience.
Labuan Bajo's tourism sector has been gaining momentum, supported by its designation as one of Indonesia's five super-priority destinations. The government's target of attracting 1.5 million tourists annually is backed by infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to Komodo International Airport and direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Perth. With its world-class diving spots, pink beaches, and access to the legendary Komodo dragons, the destination is poised for further growth.
Gilles Cretallaz, chief operating officer of Dusit International, underscored the strategic value of the project, stating, "The signing of Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection marks a significant milestone in Dusit's expansion strategy, strengthening our presence in Southeast Asia's thriving luxury hospitality market."
"Labuan Bajo is an extraordinary destination with immense potential, and we are delighted to introduce our signature Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to this stunning location. This project embodies everything Dusit stands for - refined luxury, cultural richness, and a commitment to creating value for the wider community," he added.
Meanwhile, Alessandro Mugavero, CEO of Komodo Property Management, highlighted how the development aligns with the region's evolution, saying, "As Labuan Bajo cements its position as a premier global destination, this project is perfectly timed to set new standards in sustainable luxury hospitality. Our vision for Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection is to create a sanctuary that harmonises with nature while delivering world-class amenities."
"The development and construction of the project are fully supported by local authorities and are being carried out in collaboration with the local community, further enhancing its positive impact on the local economy," Mugavero emphasised.
This latest addition brings Dusit's global portfolio to 296 properties across 18 countries. Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection joins two other Dusit Collection properties currently under development: Layan Verde in Phuket, set to open in 2027, and Plaza De Zamboanga – Dusit Collection in the Philippines, scheduled for launch later this year.
Dusit International, established in 1948, continues to expand its footprint across key markets, with operations spanning hospitality, education, real estate, and food services. As the luxury tourism sector in Indonesia grows, Dusit's entry into Labuan Bajo signals confidence in the market's long-term potential and its increasing appeal to high-net-worth travellers.
