Stellar Ace, a business arm of SMRT, and Singapore’s most connected out-of-home advertising company, has launched SkyWalk, a new large advertising format that spans eye-catchingly across 80-plus pedestrian overhead bridges, commanding the attention of hundreds of motorists and commuters as they pass under.
SkyWalk panels allow advertisers to showcase their brands in formats up to 10 metres in length and 1.5 metres in height, adding colour and vibrancy to commuters’ transit lifestyles.
The launch of SkyWalk cements Stellar Ace’s market dominance in the large-format OOH advertising space, which includes pedestrian underpasses (SubWalk) and covered link-ways (LinkWalk).
OCBC takes the sea (grass) to the Sky (Walk)
Recognising the opportunities presented by SkyWalk, OCBC became the first mover to adopt the new format to support its Seagrass Restoration Project. The project seeks to protect Singapore’s marine habitat and conserve its rich natural coastal heritage.
Researchers from NParks and the National University of Singapore are currently studying the reproductive characteristics of seagrass, conducting a pilot seagrass restoration project, and developing and testing innovative methods to improve the success of seagrass transplants.
Koh Ching Ching, head of group brand and communications at OCBC, said: “It is exciting to be the first advertiser in Singapore to dive into showcasing the OCBC Seagrass Restoration Project on pedestrian overhead bridges. We chose the bridges in locations such as Queenstown and Tampines for their high-traffic and prominent locations.
“Such larger-than-life billboards work for us because of the campaign’s visually impactful image of a mermaid under the sea with a dugong among a lush seagrass meadow. The platform is a powerful medium to capture the attention of passersby and motorists about the importance of restoring depleting seagrass for climate action. Many think little or even nothing about seagrass. Kudos to Stellar Ace for the innovative idea to utilise these overhead bridges.”
Adds Tony Heng, managing director of Stellar Ace and president of Stellar Lifestyle: “The importance of this environmental campaign on Singapore’s seagrass conservation and restoration efforts is critical to marine biodiversity. Innovative OOH advertising solutions such as SkyWalk allows OCBC to reach the right people in an efficient, cost-effective, eye-catching way.”
Stellar Ace’s new advertising formats on SkyWalk, SubWalk and LinkWalk
Stellar Ace’s new large-format advertising panels bring brands onto pedestrian overhead bridges (SkyWalk), pedestrian underpasses (SubWalk) and covered link-ways (LinkWalk) for better geographic targeting and attracting noticeable community engagement. Advertisers can effectively target local neighbourhoods, community hubs, or nationwide across Singapore, achieving high reach and frequency.
“Stellar Ace continues to innovate and expand its omni-channel OOH network and high frequency touch-points to support advertisers’ demand for effective means of amplifying their campaign messages to the right audience in an impactful and compelling way. The large-format panels are all designed with that objective in mind,” said Tjhin Poi Chung, deputy managing director of Stellar Ace.
Stellar Ace’s omni-channel network and presence in the public transport network creates a strong value proposition for advertisers by engaging people from all walks of life, be it commuters on public transportation, drivers on the roads or pedestrians along public walkways. This ability to reach a large and diverse audience makes Stellar Ace an effective media company of choice in Singapore for promoting products, services or events.
Brands such as OCBC leverage Stellar Ace’s robust island-wide network to optimise campaign outreach – from digital panels at HDB lift lobbies, large and small format screens in shopping malls and banks, prime touch-points in MRT stations and inside trains; or via the WINK+ app.
