Scoot gives Singapore's everyday heroes the Spider-Man treatment

Budget airline Scoot is celebrating Singapore's 61st year of independence by shining a light on everyday community heroes through a new campaign in collaboration with social service agencies Care Corner and TOUCH Community Services.
Aligned with this year's National Day theme of "Majulah Singapura, go beyond!", which encourages Singaporeans to show greater care and concern for one another and the wider community, Scoot worked with both organisations to identify volunteers who have demonstrated selflessness and made meaningful contributions to their communities.
As part of the initiative, Scoot hosted 15 volunteers on a getaway to Nanjing, China, from 30 July to 2 August 2026 as a gesture of appreciation for their contributions. The highlight of the trip was an inflight experience aboard Scoot's Spider-Man: Brand New Day-themed aircraft, paying tribute to the unsung heroes who serve their communities every day.

Guests were treated to custom cabin styling featuring themed decals and headrest covers, ambient music inspired by the Sony Pictures franchise, a special boarding welcome from Spider-Man and exclusive merchandise. Beyond the flight, the group also explored Nanjing's historic sights through a curated cultural itinerary.
According to Scoot, volunteers form the backbone of Singapore's social safety net, often balancing their community work alongside personal and professional commitments while receiving little recognition for their efforts.
Since 2023, Scoot has introduced a series of National Day initiatives aimed at bringing Singaporeans together. Previous campaigns have included reconnecting families through shared travel experiences and bringing a taste of home to Singaporeans living overseas.
Lau Hui Ling, director of marketing, public relations and loyalty at Scoot, said: "Heroism isn't always found in extraordinary moments; it can also be found in the small acts of kindness that make meaningful differences in our communities. This National Day, we are honoured to give back to the volunteers who have contributed to Singapore by treating them to a well-deserved break."
"Much like Spider-Man, these volunteers serve quietly behind the scenes, often helping others without seeking recognition or reward. Through our National Day initiative this year, we hope to connect with fellow citizens and remind them to appreciate the everyday heroes who have made positive impacts on their lives and the community," Lau added.
Gary Lim, director of partnership and public engagement at Care Corner Singapore, said: "Those who dedicate themselves to caring for others also need rest and time to recharge. This initiative and appreciation trip hosted by Scoot is a meaningful way to recognise the commitment of our volunteers. They have helped us to bring care to every corner in Singapore. Their tireless contribution is deeply valued and appreciated."
James Tan, CEO of TOUCH Community Services, added: "National Day is a meaningful occasion to reflect on the people whose everyday acts of kindness and service help make Singapore stronger. Our volunteers walk alongside individuals and families across the community, inspiring hope and impacting lives through their time, care and commitment. We are grateful that Scoot recognises their invaluable contributions and hope that this initiative will inspire more Singaporeans to play a part in giving back to the community."

The latest initiative builds on Scoot's wider collaboration with Sony Pictures around Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Earlier this month, the airline surprised travellers at Singapore Changi Airport with a special appearance by Spider-Man at the baggage claim area, where customers were treated to themed merchandise, photo opportunities and interactive moments as part of celebrations for the film's release in cinemas.
