Omnicom Media (OM) agency OMD has appointed Maggie Mu (pictured left) as CEO and Laura Liang (pictured right) as COO in China to drive the agency’s growth, strengthen its strategic direction, and deepen its connected capabilities.
The appointments take effect immediately, with Mu and Liang both reporting to Joey Zhao, CEO of Omnicom Media China. These appointments aim to support OM China’s integrated strategy, which combines talent, data, and technology to help clients unlock growth in an evolving market.
In her new role, Mu will lead the agency’s strategic direction, business operations, and organisational development. She will focus on deepening OMD China’s cross-disciplinary collaboration and helping clients navigate an increasingly complex marketing environment.
Building on OMD’s integrated approach, Mu will work with teams to better link strategy, media, technology, and business goals. She will also speed up the development of AI-powered growth tools, helping clients spot fresh opportunities and get stronger results.
She has previously held senior roles at Amazon, Uber, JCDecaux, and Ogilvy, giving her deep experience in brand-building, consumer engagement, media innovation, and platform ecosystems.
Meanwhile, as COO, Liang will oversee operations, cross-functional collaboration, and service excellence to further strengthen OMD China’s operational effectiveness, agility, and ability to deliver consistently high standards of service for clients.
Liang has a wealth of experience across brand strategy, client leadership, marketing technology and organisational management. She has held leadership positions at DDB Group China, McCann Worldgroup, Ogilvy APAC, TBWA, BBH and Kantar, as well as senior roles focused on product innovation and commercialisation within the technology and content intelligence sectors.

“Growth is increasingly shaped by a combination of market complexity, technological change and shifting consumer behaviour, which requires a different kind of leadership and organisation. The appointments of Maggie and Laura reflect how we are preparing OMD China for that future,” Zhao said.
“China remains one of the most important markets for Omnicom Media globally, and I am confident that Maggie and Laura’s leadership will reinforce OMD China’s reputation as a trusted growth partner for our clients,” Zhao added.
“The future of our industry will be shaped by leaders who can successfully connect creativity, technology, data and commercial outcomes. Maggie and Laura bring that rare combination. Their experience across brands, platforms, and media ecosystems, together with their passion for innovation and transformation, makes them exceptionally well-positioned to lead OMD China into its next chapter,” said Charlotte Lee, president, OMD APAC.
“As clients increasingly seek partners who can unlock growth in the AI era, Maggie and Laura will play a pivotal role in strengthening OMD’s ability to deliver connected, future-ready solutions that will help our clients navigate change, drive business opportunities, and ultimately create what’s next for them,” Liang added.
