IPG-owned sports and entertainment agency Octagon is on the hunt for a new managing director, following the sudden departure of Kim Anderson after just seven months in the role.
Anderson, who joined Octagon Australia earlier this year, announced her resignation via LinkedIn, describing her tenure as “brief but incredibly rewarding.” The former FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia–New Zealand 2023 head of marketing did not disclose her next move but hinted at “an unexpected opportunity” she couldn’t turn down.
“When I joined, it was with a clear sense of purpose. After an extraordinary few years in global sport, I was seeking the right mix of challenge, creativity and culture. Octagon has undoubtedly delivered on all three,” Anderson wrote.
She credited Octagon’s expanding team, new business wins and growing client portfolio as key highlights, noting the agency is “on the cusp of so many thrilling new partnerships and projects.”
Her departure comes at a pivotal time for Octagon, which is increasingly positioning itself at the intersection of sport, entertainment and culture ahead of major events including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Anderson said she leaves the agency “with pride and gratitude” and encouraged potential candidates to consider the MD role, saying the business is entering “an exciting new era of growth.”
Octagon is now on the hunt for a replacement.
