Boomtown has appointed Nine's regional commercial director Nathan Patrick as its new chair, succeeding Andrew Baxter.

Patrick will take on the role alongside his existing position at Nine, with the appointment taking effect on 10 August. He has been involved with the regional media collective since its launch, serving on its steering committee to promote regional media to national advertisers.

Patrick has nearly two decades' experience across WIN Television and Nine, having previously held senior leadership roles at WIN before moving to Nine's regional television business.

Boomtown said Patrick's long-standing involvement with the collective and understanding of the regional media landscape made him well placed to lead its next phase.

Patrick said regional Australia represented a significant commercial opportunity for advertisers.

"Regional Australia is now a $250 billion consumer market, with some of the strongest household balance sheets in the nation and spending power that outpaces metropolitan Australia across multiple categories," he said.

"My focus will be ensuring even more brands recognise the commercial opportunity that exists beyond the capital cities."

During his tenure as chair, Baxter helped launch initiatives including the Boomtown Spend Snapshot, developed with CommBank iQ, and the Boomtown Insiders advisory council.

Boomtown is a media collective powered by SCA, WIN, Seven, ACM, ARN, News Australia, Network 10, Gawk and Imparja.
