JD.com is reportedly launching “JD Mall” in Hong Kong featuring home appliances, marking the expansion another Chinese eCommerce giant to the city, according to local media Ming Pao

In a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson from JD.com said JD Mall will open new stores across the country this year. “The specific store opening locations will be subject to official announcement.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese eCommerce giant began poaching talent from Hong Kong's electronics retail industry last year, according to local reports, to get ready for the upcoming launch of its own experience-focused physical stores.

Reports also indicate that JD Property, a subsidiary of JD, took over the entire Li Fung Centre building in Sha Tin last year, while other sub-brands relocated to Jardine House in Central, facilitating the company's expansion in Hong Kong.

Additionally, JD has allegedly submitted an application through its subsidiary to trademark its instant delivery brand in Hong Kong.
