i-CABLE Communications (有線寬頻通訊) has proposed changing its name to "CTF Media & Entertainment" (周大福媒體娛樂) to better reflect its corporate identity and image.
According to the official announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), i-CABLE Communications' proposed change of company name is subject to approval by the shareholders at a general meeting by way of a special resolution and by the Registrar of Companies in Hong Kong.
The proposed change follows the company’s comprehensive brand repositioning under the HOY Media Network. The company has evolved from a traditional television broadcaster into a comprehensive multi-dimensional media network with the launch of its global “Omni-SceneContent ecosystem" (全場景內容生態圈).
This transition strategically repositions its threefree-to-air channels (HOY 76, 77, 78) around four core content pillars: news and finance, sports, music and entertainment, and lifestyle. By seamlessly integrating these channels with the “Fourth channel” - the HOY streaming platform - which integrates the HOY website, app, and social media presence to reach diverse audiences across all demographics, 24/7.
The board believes that the new name can provide the company with a more appropriate corporate image and identity, which will benefit the company’s business development and is in the best interests of the company and the shareholders of the company as a whole.
Ivy Wong, chief executive officer and executive director of the company, said: “This proposed name change marks a significant milestone in our corporate transformation journey. Following the successful brand repositioning of HOY, adopting the name of ‘CTF Media & Entertainment’ is the strategic next step in our evolution roadmap. The new identity will unlock strong synergies within the Chow Tai Fook group and more accurately reflect our transformation into a multi-platform, multi-dimensional media network.“
”It solidifies our commitment to not just serving our Hong Kong audience with enhanced experiences, but to championing our stories on a global stage for Chinese communities everywhere," Wong added.

Meanwhile, Television Broadcasts (電視廣播) also put forward a name change to "TVB " back in March. The proposal reflects the group's expanded media and entertainment footprint, which now covers Hong Kong, Macau, the Chinese Mainland, and beyond.
TVB runs terrestrial TV and digital streaming platforms, creates TV and music content, manages artists, and licenses intellectual property. Since its founding in 1965, it believes it has grown well beyond its original role as a TV broadcaster.
