Five Guys shuts Tsuen Wan outlet with six HK stores left

Fast food chain Five Guys has closed its Hong Kong's Tsuen Wan outlet at Citywalk, with the store shuttered and workers seen clearing the premises during business hours.

The Tsuen Wan location has also been removed from Five Guys' official store list, leaving the chain with six remaining outlets in Hong Kong, including branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, Kwun Tong, Kowloon Tong and Olympian City.

The closure surfaced online after a Threads user posted a photo of the shuttered store, with its metal grille pulled down and boxes stacked inside. Staff and removal workers were spotted clearing out the premises, sparking conversations across social media.

The closure has also sparked discussion online, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE confirmed. Some social media users have pointed to the chain's higher pricing and suggested its menu has not resonated with local diners. Others have noted the competitive dining landscape in Tsuen Wan, citing the area's crowded food and beverage scene as a contributing factor.

The Tsuen Wan shutdown marks the third Hong Kong location to close for Five Guys. The brand's Causeway Bay store on Russell Street shut down in May, while its North Point branch had already stopped operations quietly toward the end of last year. In response to a tough restaurant landscape and steep rent pressures, the chain had earlier rolled out an uncommon HK$99 set meal offer in an effort to boost customer traffic.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Five Guys for more information.

In fact, Five Guys has recently turned its focus to the mainland China market, with two new locations set to open in Beijing in August 2026. The brand has emphasised its commitment to fresh ingredients, operating with no freezers on-site and no use of pre-processed semi-finished products. It believes the city is home to a large number of young consumers who appreciate quality and are open to new dining experiences. The brand has planned to offer its core menu items, including burgers, whole-beef hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes, with a commitment to fresh, daily preparation.
