Canon launches GBA initiative to deepen South China presence

Canon has launched its Guangdong and Greater Bay Area (GBA) initiative as a core strategic move to expand its footprint in Guangdong Province and deepen its presence across South China.

Following the recent office relocation of Canon China’s Shenzhen branch and Canon Business Technologies, the launch also reflects Canon’s response to the national regional development strategy and its integration into GBA construction, reflecting the company’s commitment to Guangdong and the GBA markets.

The initiative launches as 2026 marks the start of both China’s 15th five‑year plan and Canon China’s second five‑year plan, signalling Canon’s active support for national strategy and a renewed push to deepen its GBA presence and consolidate its South China base.

Guangdong’s economy has long led the nation, boasting a strong industrial base and vast market potential, with the GBA among China’s most open regions. Canon China therefore aims to be the group’s top operation by 2035 and is advancing toward that goal through three five‑year plans.

As part of the initiative, the refreshed office relocation of Canon China Shenzhen and Canon Business Technologies Guangdong brings the two teams into a shared workspace, shortening the distance for business coordination, enabling resource sharing and collaboration, and fully implementing the “One Canon” concept.

The new office arrangement also leverages Canon Hong Kong’s international strengths, Canon China’s local resources, and Canon Business Technologies (Guangdong)’s localised service experience in the GBA to drive integration in talent exchange, technology sharing and unified service standards. This will provide high‑quality professional services to Guangdong and GBA enterprises and offer strong support for advancing the Canon Guangdong and GBA initiative.

The initiative will strengthen Canon’s business coordination across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, promote deeper cooperation among Canon China, Canon Hong Kong and its subsidiary Canon Business Technologies (Guangdong), and optimise regional resource integration and coordinated development.

Looking ahead, Canon said it will continue to integrate high‑quality resources across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, optimise coordination mechanisms and local operations, and through concrete actions expand its Guangdong and GBA market presence, extend its full product line, upgrade its businesses, and further improve responsiveness to customer needs and solution capabilities.
