Hong Kong-based retailer Wilson Communications has partnered with artist Tyson Yoshi to launch a new brand campaign, aiming to reshape consumer perception and mark a major milestone in its ongoing brand evolution.
While Wilson is deeply rooted in mobile retail, the business has been actively transforming into a “diversified electronics lifestyle hub.” The campaign directly highlights this shift by showcasing an expanded cross-category portfolio, spanning trending lifestyle gadgets, immersive gaming gear, smart home appliances, and personal care products, according to a company spokesperson.
"Ultimately, it is about redefining the Wilson brand, driving sustainable top-of-mind awareness, and building long-term brand equity in an increasingly competitive retail landscape," the spokesperson added.
Running from 27 August through the end of February 2027, the campaign primarily targets young adults aged 18 to 34. The initiative was developed in partnership with MBCS, the content arm of IPG Mediabrands.
Explaining the choice of brand ambassador, the spokesperson noted that Tyson Yoshi’s persona aligns with Wilson’s strategic pivot: "His bold, youthful, and rule-breaking attitude mirrors our own strategic push to break free from the traditional 'mobile-only' stereotype. He possesses a powerful cultural resonance that connects deeply with our younger target demographic."
"From a creative execution standpoint, we tapped into a pun, playing on the fun hook between Tyson’s signature physique (肌/Muscle) and Wilson’s electronics line-up (機/Devices). This creative play not only maximised campaign memorability but also seamlessly integrated his personal identity with our diversified product offerings," the spokesperson explained.
As part of the push, a punchy brand video featuring Tyson Yoshi was launched to deliver an immediate 'WOW' factor and shift Wilson's positioning. "To extend our reach, we are partnering with creator 東方昇 for secondary creations, using a fun, native approach to drive additional viral awareness across online communities."
The campaign also bridges digital engagement with physical retail. "In-store POSM visually highlights our broad product spectrum to convert digital interest into immediate foot traffic. Moving beyond top-of-funnel video reach, we will soon launch tactical, product-focused promotions designed to convert this heightened attention directly into retail sales," the spokesperson added.
Amplified via a digital-only media strategy, the campaign balances mass reach with niche credibility by targeting high-impact online platforms across key lifestyle segments, including entertainment, leisure, female-focused, and trend fashion outlets.
