VML has promoted Sandra Gin (pictured left) and Edward Ha (pictured right) to executive directors for its Hong Kong operations, responsible for driving growth in regional and local markets, respectively. Both Gin and Ha will report to Maggie Wong (pictured middle), CEO of VML Hong Kong.

These roles are newly created as they represent a strategic move to accelerate both VML's local and regional business growth, said VML's spokesperson in a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. Gin and Ha will be leading the charge with a heightened focus and more sharply defined strategies, leveraging the agency's full network capabilities across brand experience (BX), customer experience (CX), commerce, and technology.

Gin joined the former Wunderman Thompson in 2020 and has played a pivotal role in expanding the regional and global business from the Hong Kong office. Her expertise has been instrumental in forging strong partnerships with major clients such as HSBC, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and Nikon.

Originally from Canada, Gin brings a wealth of experience from renowned 4A agencies including BBDO Toronto, FCB Toronto, Digitas Hong Kong, and Golin Hong Kong. Her diverse industry knowledge spans gaming, loyalty, telecommunications, healthcare, hospitality, and finance.

Wong said, "Gin and Ha are invaluable members of our management team. Their passion, commitment, and leadership have been crucial to our success, and I am thrilled to see them advance within the company. They have both laid a robust foundation for our growth in 2025 and beyond.”

Gin said: “I'm incredibly excited to step into this expanded role at VML to further ignite our growth across Asia and beyond. We have the depth and breadth of capabilities to help our clients succeed and a brilliant team at VML ready to make it happen. I'm energised by the opportunity to further shape the future of our agency.”

Meanwhile, with two decades of advertising experience, Ha combines entrepreneurial acumen with multinational agency expertise. Before joining VML, Ha co-founded and led a successful boutique agency for eight years. His extensive experience across Hong Kong and mainland China has enriched VML's client portfolio, welcoming clients such as the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Endowus, alongside significant projects for HSBC.

Ha shared his thoughts on his new role: “The agency landscape is evolving rapidly with ongoing technological and societal changes. Leveraging my experience running a boutique agency, I aim to foster greater agility and maintain a sharp focus on clients’ needs, driving the agency forward alongside the VML leadership team.”

VML Hong Kong experienced significant success in its first year as a united brand, marked by several impactful campaigns and a key addition to the creative team. The agency launched Endowus's inaugural brand campaign, aiming to reshape the wealth management landscape. It also celebrated the Hong Kong Jockey Club's 140th anniversary with a heartfelt campaign honouring the contributions of the people of Hong Kong in driving the city forward and making good possible. Bolstering its creative prowess, VML welcomed Alfred Wong as chief creative officer in May 2024.
