TurboJET rebrands sea travel from chore to chic lifestyle

TurboJET has launched a rebranding campaign that reimagines cross-border travel, shifting it from a tiring logistical chore into a vibrant, premium, and seamless lifestyle experience.

Also known as “極致享受TurboGET!”, the campaign is conceptualised by local creative agency Narrow Door. It is running dynamically throughout the peak Summer 2026 travel and holiday season.

The campaign is built around an audience architecture strategy that segments communications into three distinct traveller profiles. The first group includes Gen Z and younger millennials, who are experience seekers driven by spontaneity, social currency, and the appeal of Instagrammable moments for weekend getaways and event travel.

The other two groups are families with children, or the effortless explorers, who are parents prioritising stress-free transit with luggage and stroller friendly options, avoiding the hassle of multi-step land transfers and exposed border queues. The third group consists of business travellers and VIPs, the prestige travellers, who are high-net-worth executives and luxury seekers looking for privacy, seamless productivity, and exclusive door-to-door connectivity through TurboJET's premier grand class, private VIP cabins, and premier+ luxury private car services.

The campaign aims to break the outdated "traditional water transport" stereotype and reposition TurboJET as a modern, aspirational choice for cross-border travel across the GBA. It also seeks to challenge the subconscious default of land-based options, such as the HZMB Golden Bus, by debunking the myth that land travel is inherently cheaper and more convenient.

As part of the campaign, TurboJET has shifted away from rigid corporate announcements in favour of a bold, visually driven lifestyle tone. It has also developed tailored end benefits and lifestyle narratives for each demographic segment as part of its audience architecture strategy.

Experiential subversion is also at play as TurboJET uses its "TurboGET" creative platform to reframe onboard amenities such as free Wi‑Fi, hot meals, fine wines, and VIP lounges as instant lifestyle rewards for the modern traveller.

To further engage its target audience, TurboJET has adopted mailbox advertising, deploying localised, demographic-targeted copy across residential and commercial smart mailbox networks to reach consumers directly in their everyday living spaces.

TurboJET has also deployed tram body wraps across Hong Kong Island, transforming the city's historic trams into moving billboards that travel through its most crowded commercial and residential neighbourhoods, maximising brand visibility and leaving a lasting impression on commuters and pedestrians alike.

TurboJET engages KOLs and influencers across travel, lifestyle, and Gen Z circles to create authentic vlogs, Reels, and travel hacks that showcase onboard experiences and position the journey as part of the holiday itself. Copy executions are hyper-targeted by geography to match foot traffic behaviours across Gen Z, luxury, family, and tactical segments. The O2O 3D mailbox city hunt activation was backed by 1,000 free tickets, according to TurboJET.

Anna Hong, director and general manager of TurboJET, said: "For too long, cross-border travel across the GBA has been viewed as a tedious logistical barrier - filled with crowded queues, bus transfers, and traffic fatigue before the holiday even starts. With this summer rejuvenation, we are completely redefining what sea travel stands for. TurboJET is no longer just a ferry operator; we are a stylish GBA travel expert."

"Whether our guests choose our Premier Grand Class, enjoy fine dining and champagne on board, or make use of our seamless private car connections, we want them to feel that their vacation doesn't wait for their destination - it begins the exact second they step on board with us," Hong added.

Terry Tsang, director of Narrow Door, said: “Our strategic challenge was to break consumers out of their autopilot habit of defaulting to land transit by proving that convenience doesn't have to mean compromise. With the 'TurboGET' creative platform, we turned functional transit perks into instant lifestyle rewards."

"By weaving audience-centric messaging across hyper-targeted smart mailboxes, iconic Hong Kong tram wraps, and authentic KOL vlogs, we’ve created an omnipresent campaign that meets consumers right where they live, work, and commute - reminding everyone that cross-border travel should always be enjoyed in style," he added.
