The Walt Disney Company is turning to TikTok in a bid to deepen fan engagement, announcing a global short-form content-sharing partnership that will bring creator-made videos inspired by Disney franchises onto Disney+.

The first-of-its-kind agreement will begin as a pilot in the US in the coming months, with plans to expand into additional markets thereafter. Under the partnership, participating creators who opt into the programme will have their Disney-themed TikTok videos featured both on TikTok and within the "Verts" section on Disney+, offering subscribers a new way to discover content tied to the company's entertainment brands.

The initiative will span Disney's portfolio of intellectual property, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and other franchises. TikTok creators will also gain access to official assets from hundreds of Disney films and series, allowing them to create short-form content using approved scenes and moments.

According to the companies, the content library on Disney+ will be refreshed regularly to surface timely fan conversations, encourage community engagement and expose subscribers to different storytelling formats across the streaming platform.

Alongside the content partnership, Disney and TikTok are launching a jointly run Disney Creator Ambassador Program aimed at supporting emerging creators. The tiered initiative will offer selected creators increased visibility, exclusive event access, special rewards and career development opportunities, as Disney looks to strengthen relationships with the next generation of digital storytellers.

The collaboration comes as fan-created content continues to play a growing role in entertainment discovery. According to internal TikTok data, users shared an average of 6.5 million film- and television-related posts on the platform each day last year. Meanwhile, nearly half of surveyed viewers said they went on to watch a movie or television show on a streaming service or TV after first discovering entertainment content on TikTok.

The move also reflects the growing influence of creator ecosystems in shaping how audiences engage with streaming platforms, as entertainment companies increasingly look beyond traditional marketing channels to reach digitally native audiences.

“The best storytellers are fans first. That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways," said Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer, The Walt Disney Company.

He added, "This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”

In tandem, Dawn Yang, global head of entertainment, TikTok said, "Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share. Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+, inviting audiences to experience the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful.”

The TikTok partnership builds on Disney's broader push to extend its brands beyond traditional entertainment touchpoints through strategic collaborations. Last month, the entertainment giant entered a multi-year alliance with Kraft Heinz spanning foodservice, media, events and consumer experiences.

The partnership will integrate brands such as HEINZ, Philadelphia and Kraft Mac & Cheese across Disney's North American parks and resorts, Disney Cruise Line, and its studio and streaming platforms, introducing branded dining experiences, new menu offerings and integrated marketing campaigns designed to blend food innovation with Disney's storytelling capabilities.
