TBWA\Hong Kong names new managing director

TBWA\Hong Kong has appointed Koman Ko (pictured) as its new managing director, reporting to Andreas Krasser, CEO of Omnicom Advertising Hong Kong.
In his new role, Ko will strengthen the agency’s strategic vision and business growth, guiding its continued mission to help brands disrupt culture in innovative and meaningful ways.
For Ko, the appointment marks a full-circle moment. He began his advertising career at TBWA as a graduate in 2008, before progressing through client services roles across predominantly Omnicom agencies, including DDB and Tribal Worldwide, and most recently serving as managing partner and head of client services at BBDO Hong Kong. He is known for his expanding digital experience strategy for brands and for recently spearheading the creation of in-person brand experiences through entertainment and events.
His responsibilities at BBDO will now be distributed across business leads under managing director, Maggie Cheung. Ko’s appointment follows the exit of previous general manager, Ida Mak, and is effective immediately.
TBWA Hong Kong remains a distinct brand within Omnicom Advertising HK, dedicated to delivering Disruption through best-in-class creativity and design. While advertising remains its core, the agency has grown strategically in recent years, adding specialised units for brand design and startups, its own media channel "Hong Kong never normal," and capabilities spanning events, entertainment, and IP. The agency’s work is underpinned by close attention to local culture and context, most recently reflected in its brand campaign for new client partner IKEA.
Krasser said, "Over the past few years, Ko has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a real gift for identifying new and innovative business opportunities. His strong client focus combined with his strategic vision makes him the ideal leader to take TBWA\ Hong Kong to the next level. I also want to say a big thank you to Mak for everything she's brought to the agency over the past 18 months. She stepped in at a critical moment and re-energised the agency's culture with her people-first approach. I wish her all the best as she moves forward."
Ko said, "Coming back to lead TBWA feels like coming home and that's incredibly meaningful to me. When I first walked through these doors as a graduate, I was struck by something that's remained constant for decades: the power of Disruption and the people who believe in it. What has changed is our toolbox. Today, we have access to incredible AI, data, and technology resource through our Omnicom connection that help us understand markets faster and deeper than ever before."
"What excites me most is that at the end of the day, people still crave authenticity, emotion, and experiences that touch their hearts. That's where true disruption lives - in that intersection of technology and humanity. Whether through advertising, design, entertainment or IP solutions, we’re here to help brands become cultural forces that genuinely matter in people’s lives. I’m deeply grateful to lead this incredible team, and I can’t wait to show what we can do together," he added.
This comes following the refresh of Omnicom Advertising's agency portfolio and leadership lineup for its Hong Kong operations earlier this year. With the global retirement of the DDB brand, Omnicom relaunched BBDO in Hong Kong, establishing it as the network's second creative agency brand in the market alongside TBWA.
