The release highlights the growing momentum of the IP economy across retail sectors. In Hong Kong, the government has been actively underscoring the regional economic value of intellectual property.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Sony for more information.

Speaking on World IP Day previously, Hong Kong's finance chief Paul Chan noted that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) holds nearly 820,000 valid invention patents, representing roughly one-sixth of the national total. Chan highlighted that this year's Budget advances the city's IP agenda across three key pillars: strengthening the tax regime, promoting IP valuation and financing, and nurturing professional talent.

Beyond consumer electronics, local brands are increasingly leveraging high-profile character licensing. Beverage chain CHAGEE recently partnered with Sanrio to launch a Hello Kitty campaign tailored for Hong Kong and Macau, debuting a limited-edition "earl grey tea-coloured" Hello Kitty designed to fuse Eastern tea culture with the Japanese character.

On the financial front, Dah Sing Bank collaborated with Hello Kitty to redefine the traditional banking experience during the Labour Day Golden Week. The initiative transformed selected branch locations into limited-time interactive spaces, blending financial services with leisure and social media-sharing opportunities for the public.
