RHB Banking Group is doubling down on customer-centric digital innovation with the launch of its redesigned RHB mobile banking app. The refreshed app marks a significant step forward in the Group’s "Progress 27" digitalisation strategy, combining design simplicity with robust functionality to elevate the daily banking experience.
One of the app’s standout features is Malaysia’s first banking widget, a step forward in frictionless digital convenience. The widget allows customers to perform essential transactions such as payments and transfers directly from their home screen without launching the app. It is a strategic move aimed at positioning RHB as a mobile-first innovator, providing not just digital access, but intuitive digital solutions.

Alongside the widget, the app now supports RHB’s multi-currency account (MCA), letting users trade foreign currencies at competitive rates in just a few taps. Reward redemption has also been integrated directly into the interface, enabling customers to cash in reward points earned through everyday banking for a range of items.
The new interface gives users a simplified, all-in-one view of their finances, covering accounts, cards and more, reinforcing the bank’s promise of a faster, smarter, and more intuitive experience.
“The new RHB mobile banking app reflects our ongoing commitment to making banking more accessible, seamless, and secure for all Malaysians," said Jeffrey Ng, mananging director of group community banking at RHB. He also added that the app was designed with user experience as a focus.
“Our new app is not just an upgrade or a refresh, it reflects our vision to reimagine how our customers manage their finances. Faster, smarter and more intuitive, empowering them to take control of their finances with ease and confidence,” said Ng.
To further drive user adoption, RHB has partnered with Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) on a campaign aimed at promoting QR code transactions. Running from 1 May to 31 October 2025, the campaign gives customers the chance to win a share of RM450,000 in cashback rewards. Each RM10 DuitNow QR transaction via the app counts as five entries into the draw.
"We are pleased to partner with PayNet to promote secure and cashless transactions. This campaign rewards customers for embracing digital convenience while strengthening Malaysia’s transition toward a digital economy," added Ng.
Recently, RHB had appointed IPG Mediabrands' bespoke unit Azure as its new media partner for its Malaysian market, following the conclusion of a single-round pitch in March 2025. The partnership officially began in April this year and will run for two years.
Azure will be tasked to lead RHB's media planning and buying across both digital and traditional channels. Besides managing the group's social media platforms, its remit includes maintaining RHB’s market presence, driving visibility, and fostering meaningful consumer interactions in an increasingly competitive landscape, the group's chief marketing officer, Abdul Sani Abdul Murad shared with A+M.
Earlier last month, Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) also announced that it was looking for a media agency to support its full-funnel media planning and execution.
The appointed agency will handle brand awareness, product education including cross-border initiatives, and amplify refreshed DuitNow and QR point-of-sale materials. The contract’s scope covers digital, social, TV, radio, and out-of-home channels. It requires a dedicated team for nationwide campaigns, including rural or regional outreach.
