OCBC Malaysia is turning Mickey Mouse into a local icon, with limited edition debit cards and a blind box collection that reimagines the Disney character around Malaysian food and culture.
Running from 3 August to 30 November, the "OCBC Mickey go local" campaign gives new customers a choice of two Mickey Mouse debit card designs. Both feature localised designs, with one depicting Mickey Mouse holding a durian, while the other pictures Mickey and Minnie in front of a trishaw and hawker stall, with the KL city skyline in the background.
The campaign also comes with a five-piece Mickey Mouse plushie collection, with each character inspired by a familiar Malaysian dish or drink. The blind boxes feature Mickey with nasi lemak, roti canai, chicken rice, curry noodles and bubble tea.

Customers can redeem one of the plushies when they open an OCBC 360 Account/-i and deposit RM5,000. The collectibles can be picked up at participating OCBC branches, while customers must maintain their balance for three months to remain eligible. During this period, they can earn up to 3.00% p.a. on the account.
Going beyond the collectible factor, each plushie doubles as a foldable tote bag, adding a practical use to the merchandise.
The debit cards also come with an additional lifestyle perk, with cardholders receiving 8% off sitewide on Klook with a minimum spend of RM300, capped at RM40.
“As a bank that has been part of Malaysia for close to a century, we wanted to celebrate the culture, identity and food that make our country unique," said Sammeer Sharma, OCBC Bank’s head of consumer financial services.
"Ask any Malaysian what they are most proud of about our country, and food will almost always be near the top of the list," added Sharma.
The campaign comes as brands continue to tap into Malaysia’s growing blind box and collectible culture, increasingly using familiar entertainment IP to create merchandise-led collaborations.
Recent examples include Starbucks’ Mr. Men Little Miss release and the Burger King’s Dragon Ball Super collaboration, with Toei Animation.
