Nine has secured a five-year broadcast and streaming deal with Netball Australia, adding one of the country’s largest participation sports to its growing rights portfolio.

The agreement, which begins on 1 January 2027, includes Suncorp Super Netball, all Australian Diamonds matches and the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027.

Matches will be available across the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport, with a mix of free-to-air and subscription coverage. This includes select Super Netball matches each round, the full Finals Series, all Diamonds internationals and key World Cup fixtures.

The deal strengthens Nine’s position in women’s sport, an area of increasing focus as audience demand, attendance and commercial investment continue to rise.

Amanda Laing, managing director of streaming and broadcast at Nine Entertainment Co., said netball was a natural addition to the group’s portfolio.

“We’re building a portfolio around the sports Australians care most deeply about, and netball belongs in that company,” she said.

“We believe women’s sport is one of the strongest growth stories in media, and this partnership is another important step in our commitment to back it with real platforms, real visibility and real ambition.”

The agreement also expands the commercial footprint of netball, providing a larger platform for athletes, sponsors and partners as the sport enters a new phase of growth.

Netball Australia chair Liz Ellis said the deal reflects increasing competition for women’s sport rights.

“Nine has leveraged the opportunity to make a real and meaningful investment into netball when the competition for women’s sport is intensifying,” she said.

Nine already holds rights across a broad range of sports, including the NRL, rugby union, tennis and the Olympic Games, and has been steadily building its women’s sport offering across properties such as the WTA Tour, NRLW and WNBL.

The addition of netball further strengthens that strategy as broadcasters compete for premium live sport and engaged audiences.
