Nielsen is acquiring media measurement and verification company DoubleVerify in an all-cash deal valued at approximately US$2.15 billion, as it looks to bring audience measurement, media verification and campaign performance under one roof.
The acquisition combines Nielsen's audience measurement and cross-platform analytics capabilities with DoubleVerify's expertise in media quality, brand suitability, viewability and invalid traffic detection.
According to the companies, the move is designed to simplify media measurement by giving advertisers access to a single platform spanning campaign planning, audience measurement, verification and outcome attribution, reducing the need to reconcile data across multiple providers.

The deal also significantly expands Nielsen's presence in digital advertising, positioning the company more deeply within workflows used by advertisers, agencies, publishers and technology platforms.
Nielsen said the combined business will offer independent measurement and optimisation across linear television, connected TV, social media, mobile and emerging AI-powered advertising environments.
At the same time, the company said DoubleVerify's existing verification capabilities, including fraud detection, viewability measurement and brand suitability tools, will continue to operate as independent standards relied upon by advertisers globally.
The acquisition also comes as artificial intelligence plays an increasingly prominent role across media planning, buying and optimisation. Nielsen said combining its measurement capabilities with DoubleVerify's verification infrastructure will help advertisers adopt AI-driven workflows with greater confidence by providing trusted data and independent campaign validation.
“Over the last few years, Nielsen has undergone a fundamental transformation — accelerating product innovation; expanding our platform across the full media lifecycle, from discovery and planning through measurement and outcomes; and strengthening our financial foundation. The result is a stronger, more agile Nielsen that has earned its place as a leading media intelligence platform for the modern advertising ecosystem.," said Karthik Rao, CEO of Nielsen.
Rao added that the acquisition is intended to strengthen trust and independence across the advertising ecosystem by combining audience measurement with media verification. He said the deal will enable the company to provide advertisers, agencies, publishers and platforms with an end-to-end solution spanning audience intelligence, verified media delivery and campaign measurement as advertising becomes increasingly automated.
In tandem, Mark Zagorski, CEO of DoubleVerify, said, “The announcement is an exciting milestone for DoubleVerify. As a private entity with the support of Nielsen, we will have access to expanded resources to deliver new, market-leading solutions that drive exceptional value for our customers and partners."
"DoubleVerify’s MRC-accredited quality signals, in combination with Nielsen’s deduplicated cross-screen audience measurement, will fuel genuine market innovation – a single currency that scores media on both audience delivery and media environment quality. I’m proud of the strong momentum we’ve built for DoubleVerify as the leading media effectiveness platform, the strength of our AI-powered measurement and optimization platform, and the exceptional work of our team," he added.
Meanwhile, DoubleVerify board chairperson R. Davis Noell said the acquisition brings together complementary strengths in media measurement and verification, building on DoubleVerify's growth in AI-powered media quality solutions while creating new opportunities for customers, partners and the company's future development under Nielsen.
The deal comes amid a wave of consolidation across the technology and AI sectors as companies look to strengthen their capabilities through acquisitions.
Earlier this year, Meta acquired Moltbook, the viral social media platform for AI agents. The acquisition saw the Moltbook team join Meta Superintelligence Labs, the company's dedicated division overseeing its AI teams and initiatives, as the tech giant continued to expand its artificial intelligence ambitions.
