Invictus Blue kicks up sports media ambitions with Chelsea-JDT

Invictus Blue is strengthening its sports media capabilities in Malaysia, with its sports marketing and media rights arm Content Matrix coordinating the broadcast partnership for Chelsea F.C.'s pre-season clash against Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C. (JDT).
Played on 9 August, the match was broadcast live across Astro Arena, Astro Grandstand, Astro Go and Sooka for subscribers, while free-to-air coverage was carried on RTM TV Okey and RTMKlik.
The arrangement was developed in partnership with TEG Sport, the Australian promoter behind Chelsea's Asia Pacific pre-season tour. Content Matrix served as the local commercial and broadcast coordination partner, working with TEG Sport, Astro and RTM to bring the fixture to Malaysian audiences across both subscription and free-to-air platforms.

According to Invictus Blue, the dual-platform approach was designed to maximise the match's audience reach by making it available regardless of viewers' subscription status or preferred device.
The agency added that the model also creates a broader commercial audience for rights holders and sponsors, while demonstrating how broadcasters can work together to extend the reach of premium sports content.
The Chelsea-JDT fixture adds to Invictus Blue's growing sports rights portfolio in 2026. Earlier this year, the agency was appointed to develop commercial opportunities around the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Malaysia.
Through Content Matrix, Invictus Blue is looking to build its position as a local partner connecting international sports rights holders with Malaysian broadcasters, brands and audiences.
"We are at an inflection point in Malaysian sports media. International rights holders are looking beyond traditional broadcast deals. They want integrated partners who understand audience development, sponsorship commercialisation and the full ecosystem around a sporting property. That is exactly what Content Matrix is built to provide, and what Invictus Blue as a group is uniquely positioned to deliver," said Keith Miranda, president, Invictus Blue Group.
He added, "The most successful sports broadcast partnerships are the ones that expand the pie rather than divide it. Bringing Astro and RTM to the table together was deliberate. It reflects how we think about building value for every stakeholder in the ecosystem, not just for one broadcaster or one sponsor, but for the sport itself."
Miranda said Malaysia has the passion and audience to compete as a strong sports market, but has historically lacked the infrastructure needed to efficiently connect rights holders, broadcasters and commercial partners. Invictus Blue is looking to bridge that gap by building a more integrated sports commercialisation ecosystem.
The sports push comes as Invictus Blue also looks to broaden its capabilities through partnerships elsewhere in the business. Earlier this year, the agency signed a memorandum of understanding with Trapper Group to form a joint venture between the two Malaysian independent media agencies.
The partnership is aimed at developing integrated, platform-agnostic solutions for brands seeking greater agility, speed and customised go-to-market strategies. Both agency groups will continue to operate independently, retaining their respective ownership structures, clients and partnerships, while collaborating in areas where their combined capabilities can deliver greater impact.
