International SOS, a global health and security risk services company, has appointed Eastwest Public Relations to handle its strategic communications across Singapore and Asia Pacific, following a competitive pitch.

The appointment took effect on 1 October 2026 and will see Eastwest PR lead regional media relations and press office support for the global health and security risk services company.

Under the remit, the agency will also provide strategic counsel and work alongside International SOS' regional and global communications teams. Its work will focus on bringing the company's expertise across security, workforce health and organisational resilience to business, trade and mainstream media across the region.

The appointment comes as International SOS looks to strengthen conversations around the health, security and climate-related risks facing organisations and their employees, as well as how employers approach their duty of care.

Syazlina Haniff, head of marketing and communications, Singapore, International SOS, said the region remains central to the company's work after more than four decades of serving organisations across Asia Pacific.

"As employers contend with more complex risks to their people, from geopolitical instability to extreme weather and evolving health threats, clear and credible communication has become integral to how we support them – shaping how business leaders understand their duty of care and where they turn for guidance," she added.

Raymond Lau, partner at Eastwest Public Relations, said the assumptions that once underpinned "business as usual" no longer hold as geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and more frequent disruptions shape how organisations operate.

"Communication has become a strategic function against this backdrop — it determines how employees, clients and regulators judge an organisation's readiness when events unfold," said Lau.

"International SOS sits at the centre of these issues, helping employers protect their people from security, health and wellbeing risks worldwide. We look forward to working with International SOS to raise the profile of their expertise in the region and that it reaches journalists and decision-makers who need it, accurately and at the right moment," he added.

The appointment comes as other organisations in Singapore rethink how they structure their PR support across the region. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB), for example, is seeking to appoint a panel of PR agencies to support its communications across six Southeast Asian markets under a new three-year regional contract.

According to tender documents seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE at the time, agencies can pitch for one or more of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, provided they have a physical presence in the markets they are bidding for. STB said the panel model is intended to better reflect Southeast Asia's diverse media landscape and market nuances, while giving it access to a wider range of insights and capabilities.
