HK Disneyland to debut free-roaming robotic Olaf in World of Frozen

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) will introduce a free-roaming robotic Olaf character in its World of Frozen area in May, created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development using next-generation robotics.

Positioned as a “special ambassador” for the kingdom of Arendelle, Olaf will appear in the Arendelle Forest area to greet guests, interact, pose for photos and converse with visitors of different ages. The character will feature movement and behaviours modelled on his on-screen persona from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen franchise.

Alongside the new character experience, HKDL is expanding related retail and F&B offerings in World of Frozen. Tick Tock Toys & Collectibles will carry new Olaf-themed music boxes and HKDL-exclusive summer collections, while restaurants Golden Crocus Inn and Northern Delights will offer additional themed sweet items.

Frozen-branded experiences will also extend to the resort’s hotels, including an Arendelle-themed Frozen Suite and “Summer Snow Day” in-room experiences.

Beyond World of Frozen, the resort is rolling out other interactive experiences as part of its wider 20th anniversary activities. In Grizzly Gulch, a land exclusive to HKDL, guests can participate in the “Chip ’n’ Dale Lucky Nugget Spin” game for a chance to win draw-exclusive prizes, and join the “Nuts for Nuggets” experience led by Chip, Dale and Clarice in new explorer outfits.

The characters will also appear on the streets of Grizzly Gulch for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities. The land continues to feature the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars attraction, alongside new themed merchandise and treats.

At Mystic Point, characters Lord Henry Mystic and Albert the monkey will appear in rotation to greet guests and introduce them to the land’s storyline and attractions.

Don't miss: HK Disneyland launches thematic street signs to celebrate 20th anniversary

This comes as part of the park's 20th anniversary celebration. Back in February, HKDL sprinkled pixie dust throughout the city with whimsical “I love Hong Kong Disneyland”-themed street signs—bringing Disney magic beyond the park and into the heart of Hong Kong.

Disney friends were featured on street signs along some of Hong Kong’s most iconic roads. Locals and visitors alike were invited to embark on a magical city tour—snap memorable photos, enjoy hidden Disney surprises, and continue the adventure all the way to the resort, where unforgettable moments await.
