Grey HK names new executive creative director

Grey Hong Kong has promoted Rick Kwan (pictured) to executive creative director, effective from 1 December.

In this newly created role, Kwan will further elevate the agency’s creativity and reputation among its clients, said a spokesperson from Grey in a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. He will be partnering with Duffy Lau, managing director, Grey Hong Kong.

"Kwan is an incredibly talented creative with the uncanny ability to develop creative ideas that clients take on board, and this delivers excellent work and business results. With Kwan in this new role, I have no doubt Grey Hong Kong will produce even more ground-breaking work,” Lau said.  

Kwan has been with Grey Hong Kong for over three years, according to his LinkedIn. Before his promotion, Kwan served as creative partner at the agency.

Before joining Grey Hong Kong, Kwan had worked at BCW APAC, dentsu, and McCann Hong Kong, respectively.

Grey Hong Kong has a diverse roster of clients, including local brands such as Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), HSBC, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Lee Kum Kee, and Samsung. The agency also handles regional projects for HSBC, American Tourister, and P&G China brands such as Whisper and Pantene, as well as some recent global work for Lee Kum Kee, according to the spokesperson.

Back in April, Lee Kum Kee handed the creative duties of its food business to Grey Hong Kong, following a competitive pitch in January.

Back in October, Grey Hong Kong promoted Lau to managing director, reporting to APAC CEO Sarah Trombetta. In this newly created role, Lau is responsible for spearheading the business and leading the Hong Kong studio.
