Foodpanda Hong Kong's director of marketing Carmen Wong (pictured) is departing after four years to pursue a new chapter in her career development.

In conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson from foodpanda said Wong's departure from foodpanda Hong Kong is a personal decision of hers for a new chapter in her career development. Meanwhile, Wong's successor is yet to be identified.

Wong joined foodpanda Hong Kong in 2021 as head of marketing and was promoted to director of marketing in March last year, reporting to Ryan Lai, CEO of foodpanda Hong Kong.

Wong was responsible for developing and implementing the overall marketing communication strategy, fostering significant collaboration opportunities together with food, grocery and business partners, to drive further growth. Her duties also included the creative management of customer acquisition campaigns, as well as leading the success of our loyalty programme - pandapro.

During Wong's tenure, she has led multiple marketing campaigns to help raise the brand awareness, including the recent PANDADEAL campaign, which tapped Hong Kong born Korean influencer Heiri Jun and local theatre actors to encourage consumers to discover maximum discounts on the platform.

She also took part in last year's campaign celebrating foodpanda Hong Kong's 10th anniversary to thank Hongkongers for their support over the past decade.

Meanwhile, she was also involved in last year's campaign featuring Japanese megastar Takuya Kimura, promoting McDonald’s McGriddles’ exclusive launch on foodpanda. The campaign featured Kimura engaging in Cantonese dialogue, and appearing against a light pink dreamland. It will be promoted via television and outdoor advertisements.

Another campaign that she took part in was the Hong Kong Film Awards sponsorship in 2024. The sponsorship not only aimed to support the Hong Kong arts and culture scene, but also to spread the joy of “萬歲” with its customers, empowering them to experience the local film industry’s norm with foodpanda.

In response to Carmen’s departure, Lai said: “We’re incredibly grateful for Wong's tireless energy, creativity, and leadership. She has led her team to deliver bold, relevant and unforgettable campaigns that have truly elevated our brand. While we will miss her presence, we are all excited for what lies ahead of her, and wish her absolute success in the next step of her career.”

Wong said, “After four incredible years, I’m moving on to my next step with immense gratitude. To the people of Hong Kong, I hope our campaigns have sparked joy, curiosity, and connection. To the passionate foodpanda Hong Kong team who make this company thrive—thank you for your constant brilliance and heart. Finally, to our CEO and fellow management team, thank you for the guidance and camaraderie. It’s been an honour to be a part of this journey.”
