Bruno Mars to play 4 Kai Tak shows in May 2027

American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is set to return to Hong Kong for the first time in nearly nine years, bringing "The Romantic Tour" to Kai Tak Stadium for four shows on 7, 8, 11, and 12 May 2027.

The Hong Kong dates were announced last Thursday (27 August), expanding Mars' global tour which kicked off in April 2026. The 14-time Grammy winner last performed in the city in May 2018 with a two-night engagement at AsiaWorld-Expo.

An artist presale will open on 23 September, followed by general sales on 24 September. Ticketing details and seating plans have yet to be disclosed. 

Mars is best known for hit singles such as “24K Magic,” “That’s What I Like,” and “Locked Out of Heaven,” as well as his smash collaboration with Mark Ronson, “Uptown Funk.”

The announcement comes as Hong Kong aggressively pursues high-profile international entertainment acts to boost tourism and drive economic growth. Following major stadium runs by Coldplay, Jay Chou, JJ Lin, and BABYMONSTER, the city has been strengthening its positioning as a premier venue for global pop culture, according to the city's tourism chief Rosanna Law.

Law recently emphasised that revitalising Hong Kong’s tourism sector hinges on sports and cultural events, noting that a consistent calendar of major concerts encourages repeat visitation.

Large-scale music events in Hong Kong drew significant cross-border audience traffic, with mainland visitors accounting for up to 60% of attendees at certain major concerts, Law added. Beyond direct ticket sales, the influx provides a wider commercial boost across local retail, dining, hospitality, transportation, and personal care services, with fans investing in merchandise and local services ahead of showtimes.
