Blue Girl bets on wellness culture with sports-led light beer campaign

Hong Kong beer brand Blue Girl Beer has launched an integrated campaign for its new low-calorie product, Blue Girl Light, positioning the product around a lifestyle philosophy it calls "Just play it light."
Running from 17 August to 6 October across sports venues and occasions in Hong Kong, the initiative targets 18- to 45-year-olds who balance workplace demands with a commitment to personal wellness, a Blue Girl Beer spokesperson said in a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
The campaign responds to a shift in consumer priorities, particularly among Gen Z, who are increasingly seeking genuine pleasure alongside health-conscious choices. Rather than treating light drinking as a dietary compromise, Blue Girl Light frames its zero sugar, zero fat formula as an expression of autonomy over one's lifestyle rhythm.
To bring that philosophy to life, the centrepiece of the campaign is a limited-time redemption hub at Central Pier 8, open from August to September. Customers who complete 30 minutes of exercise, whether gym workouts, yoga, cycling or ball games, can redeem a 330ml can of Blue Girl Light by presenting mobile fitness records to on-site staff and following the brand's official Instagram and Facebook pages.
Participants at designated sports venues can also receive a limited-edition goodie bag containing two 330ml cans, a brand-designed tote bag and an absorbent sports towel.

Beyond the redemption hub, Blue Girl Beer has rolled out a series of sports activations designed to embed the brand in Hong Kong's fitness culture. A collaboration with a local running club offers city runs intended to help participants disconnect from daily pressures and connect with fellow sports enthusiasts.
A pickleball activation, "Just hit it light," runs from 24 August to 20 September, inviting the public to try one of Hong Kong's fastest-growing trendy sports. Meanwhile, "Just spin it light," running from 25 August to 24 September, transforms indoor cycling into what the brand describes as a dopamine-boosting fitness party, pairing bass-heavy beats with immersive lighting.
Together, these activations extend the campaign's reach into popular sports occasions across the city, sharing what the brand calls a light, lively attitude towards life.
Supporting these on-ground efforts is a digital-first media strategy spanning YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and programmatic display, reinforced by a high-impact social media push to drive further engagement, the spokesperson added.
The campaign had been developed with PR agency WATT Asia, creative agency NoTwo HK and media agency Spark Foundry.
Don't miss: Blue Girl raises a toast to HK's hidden emotions
Consistent with its latest wellness-themed activation, Blue Girl Beer's previous marketing campaigns centre on authentic local lifestyle connections and emotional resonance with Hong Kong audiences. Back in June, Blue Girl Beer launched the emotional campaign "Taste the real moment" (嗒落至夠真). It anchored its brand narrative in local Hong Kong culture, linking the brand's signature dual-malt brew with the city's iconic "sharp tongue, soft heart" interpersonal trait.
In a separate campaign fronted by MIRROR member Edan Lui, the month-long activation adopted an omnichannel marketing strategy.
