Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has reportedly dismissed its general manager of Xiaomi China marketing and Redmi Thomas Wang Teng over alleged misconduct. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Xiaomi for a statement.
According to multiple Chinese reports such as iFanr, Xiaomi’s ethics committee stated in an internal email on 8 September, that an internal investigation revealed Wang was involved in the unauthorised disclosure of sensitive information and had undisclosed conflicts of interest. The company cited breaches of its disciplinary and integrity codes as the grounds for his dismissal.
Meanwhile, Wang posted a statement on his Weibo account, apologising for his misconduct during his tenure and expressing gratitude to his friends for their support over the years.
However, he denied the allegations of leaking confidential information and breaching internal policies. "There are many rumors online about my resignation, all of which are false and outrageous." He emphasised in his post, "I did not steal company secrets and sell them, nor did I accept money. I have committed dereliction of duty, and I am deeply reflecting on it, but I have not committed any illegal acts!"

Wang had held several senior roles within Xiaomi, including general manager of China marketing, general manager of the Redmi brand, general manager of the Redmi marketing department, and official spokesperson for the Redmi brand.
Despite the development, Xiaomi reported robust financial results in Q2 2025, with revenue rising 30.5% year-over-year to RMB 116.0 billion — marking the third consecutive quarter that revenue has exceeded RMB 100 billion, according to its official statement. Adjusted net profit surged 75.4% year-over-year to RMB 10.8 billion, surpassing RMB 10 billion for the second straight quarter. These strong results underscore Xiaomi’s resilient profitability and sustained high growth from an already solid foundation.
Guided by the “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem strategy, Xiaomi’s three core businesses—smartphones, smart EVs, and smart large home appliances—all achieved robust growth in the second quarter. Revenue from the smartphone business reached RMB45.5 billion, with shipments growing for the eighth consecutive quarter and maintaining a top-three global ranking for the 20th consecutive quarter.
The IoT and lifestyle products segment set a new revenue record of RMB38.7 billion, up 44.7% year-over-year, driven by a 66.2% increase in smart home appliance revenue. Revenue from the smart EV, AI, and other new initiatives segment reached RMB21.3 billion, up significantly by 234% year-over-year, with EV revenue alone topping RMB20 billion for the first time, a major milestone for the business.
