WPP Media has been named Australia’s best-performing media agency group in COMvergence’s New Business Barometer for the first three quarters of 2025, finishing well ahead of its competitors in both total and net new business.
The group reported AU$273 million in total new business including retentions and $189.4 million in net new business, driven by strong performances from Mindshare, Wavemaker and EssenceMediacom.
EssenceMediacom led all individual agencies with $163 million in total new business, winning Lion and HBO Max and retaining Isuzu Ute Australia and the NRL.
Mindshare ranked second among agencies with AUD $154.5 million in total new business. Key wins included MG Motor and Citibank, along with Suncorp through WPP Media’s bespoke agency model Open Era.
Wavemaker recorded major retentions including South Australia Government and expanded its L’Oreal remit into influencer and creator marketing.
Aimee Buchanan, WPP Media Australia and New Zealand CEO, said the COMvergence result reflects the “talent, passion and relentless focus” of the group’s teams. “Our agencies continue to set the benchmark for strategic thinking and client partnership, and we are proud to help our clients achieve outstanding results.”
Mindshare CEO Maria Grivas said the recognition highlights the “drive and ingenuity” of the agency’s people, while EssenceMediacom CEO Pippa Berlocher said the results show how teams have embraced innovation to “deliver breakthrough ideas for clients”.
