Wendy Walters' mysterious disappearance powers MLBB's latest social push

As gaming campaigns increasingly lean into participatory storytelling and creator culture, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), under MOONTON Games, is turning its annual ALLSTAR celebration into an interactive mystery campaign designed to blur the lines between gameplay, entertainment, and social engagement.
The campaign, launched in Indonesia, centres around creator and personality Wendy Walters, who hosts an exclusive ALLSTAR party attended by a roster of gaming creators, streamers, and celebrities. However, the celebration quickly takes a dramatic turn when Walters “mysteriously falls into the sea”, transforming every guest into a suspect.
Titled “Ada Apa dengan Wendy?”, the social media mini-series features appearances from several high-profile Indonesian personalities, including Jess No Limit, Sisca Kohl, Aldi Taher, Pascol, and Kevlin Stevianos.

Rather than limiting the activation to passive viewing, the campaign positions players as active participants in the investigation. Over several days, fans are encouraged to gather clues distributed across MLBB Indonesia’s social media channels and through in-game mailbox messages before voting on who they believe is responsible for Walters’ disappearance.
Players who successfully identify the culprit will have the opportunity to receive exclusive in-game rewards, extending engagement beyond social content and into the game ecosystem itself.
The campaign reflects how publishers are increasingly building entertainment-driven narratives that extend beyond core gameplay mechanics. By combining influencer participation, episodic storytelling, and audience interaction, MLBB’s ALLSTAR activation aims to deepen community engagement while sustaining conversation across multiple digital touchpoints.
The mystery is scheduled to conclude on 22 May through a special livestream featuring Walters and the campaign’s roster of suspects, where the full story behind the ALLSTAR party incident will be revealed.
According to the company, players can follow the ongoing investigation through MLBB Indonesia’s official social media platforms and in-game updates.
Developed by MOONTON Games, MLBB has grown into one of the world’s largest mobile multiplayer online battle arena titles, with over 1.5 billion installations and 110 million monthly active users globally.
