Uni-President extends China media mandate with Initiative China

Uni-President, the global food and beverage conglomerate, has renewed its partnership with Omnicom Media agency Initiative for the China market.

Under the extended agreement, Initiative China will continue to handle media planning and buying across Uni-President’s portfolio in the region. The client has reappointed the agency without a pitch, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE understands.

The account is valued at over US$50 million in billings, according to COMvergence.

Founded in 1967 and headquartered in Taiwan, Uni-President has built a diversified portfolio spanning instant noodles, beverages, dairy products, baked goods and other packaged foods.

In mainland China, it is best known for its ready-to-drink tea, juice and dairy beverages, as well as its instant noodle brands, distributed via extensive retail and eCommerce networks.

Uni-President China recently reported that its net profit rose 10.9% to 2.05 billion yuan (HK$2.32 billion), according to a filing published on Wednesday. The company declared a final dividend of 47.47 cents per share.

Revenue climbed 4.6% to 31.71 billion yuan, while EBITDA increased 6.6% to 3.86 billion yuan. Revenue from its food business grew 5% to 10.49 billion yuan, accounting for 33.1% of the group’s total revenue.
