Local broadcaster TVB has entered into a framework agreement with Triton Square, an affiliate of Gaw Capital Partners, to establish a new joint venture to provide advanced computing services for AI-related work in Hong Kong.
It is proposed that the ordinary voting shares of the joint venture vehicle shall be 51% owned by TVB and 49% owned by Gaw Capital.
According to the official announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), TVB and Gaw Capital signed a Letter of Interest on 15 July with a major global technology group for the potential supply of advanced computing services. They are now working out the technical and commercial details, while also exploring different ways to procure and finance the computing equipment needed to deliver those services. The parties expect to sign final agreements in the second half of 2026.
TVB said it is pursuing these initiatives as part of its ongoing strategic transformation from a traditional television broadcaster into a diversified media company for the digital era, and to broaden its revenue streams.
Through years of partnership with leading technology players, TVB sees strong, growing demand for computing resources, particularly in media content production, driven by the rise of AI. TVB's own adoption of AI tools and applications has already enhanced its creative workflows, reflected in its increasing output of AI-generated content (AIGC), and its internal computing needs are expected to grow in the coming years.
In addition, TVB is exploring AI-based tools and services for external content creators, offering access to its extensive content libraries to improve production efficiencies. The Project, of which TVB itself will be a key user, will serve as a critical enabler of its transformation. By developing the project, TVB also aims to take a leading role in bringing AI to the forefront of media content creation and production in Hong Kong and the region.
The joint venture vehicle shall plan, direct and fund the development by TVB of new computing facilities within the company’s corporate campus in the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.
Operating within these computing facilities, the joint venture vehicle procure, configure and operate computing equipment such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and central processing units (CPUs) to provide AI-related advanced computing services on a subscription basis to external third-party customers as well as our own TVB group companies.
