Local broadcaster TVB is expecting a strong performance in the fourth quarter of 2025, driven by advertising and sponsorship deals for the upcoming premiere of The Queen of News 2 (新聞女王 2) in November, along with additional artificial intelligence (AI)-generated drama titles planned for release.

According to the official announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), TVB reported continued year-on-year growth in advertising income from its terrestrial free-to-air channels during the quarter. Its Jade, 24-hour TVB News, and other channels have collectively achieved an 80% market share in viewership.

Based on current business momentum, TVB continues to expect higher advertising income over the full year of 2025 compared to 2024.

In the group’s digital media business, TVB’s other digital assets, including social media accounts and mobile apps, continued to grow in followers and subscribers, which were up by over 20% compared to the same time last year. This contributed to strong double-digit growth in overall revenue from digital advertising during the quarter, compared to the same period in 2024.

TVB has continued to serve around two million average monthly active users during the quarter across all tiers of myTV SUPER streaming service.

During the quarter, TVB integrated AI into its content creation process. In September, it aired You, and Only You (在我心中,你是獨一無二), a short drama series created entirely using AI. This series was broadcast in Hong Kong on both the TVB Plus terrestrial channel and the myTV SUPER streaming service, as well as in mainland China on Tencent Video. One of the main characters, Hugo, has also been chosen by a major advertising client to feature in an upcoming TV advertising campaign.

With AI now firmly integrated into its content creation toolkit, TVB expects to release further AI-generated drama titles across its platforms in the coming months.

In terms of mainland China-related businesses, TVB commenced filming Wars of Roses (玫瑰戰爭) during the quarter. It also completed filming and began post-production on The Queen of News 2 (新聞女王 2), which is scheduled to premiere on Youku in November.

Looking ahead, TVB has reiterated its expectation of continued year-on-year growth in EBITDA and a positive net profit for the year ending 31 December 2025.
