SPCA inspires HK fitness community to help animals in need

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has inspired the local fitness community to help animals in need with the latest fundraising campaign.

Available from April until June, the SPCA has teamed up with pet-friendly gyms and animal-loving personal trainers and fitness instructors to offer a series of fundraising events. From dog-friendly run clubs, hiking trips, push-ups to group class trials, all proceeds from these activities will support the SPCA’s animal welfare initiatives and help rescue animals in need.

The "Fit for paws" campaign came as the brand realised it is scientifically proven that the bonds between humans and their pets significantly contribute to a happier, healthier lifestyle. The initiative aims to celebrate this bond with passionate animal lovers within the fitness community and advocating "Adopt don’t shop".

Visuals of the fundraising campaign, featuring various dedicated fitness enthusiasts and animal lovers as well SPCA rescue animals and their pets, are shot by producer and photographer Dino Busch from London. Some well-known names captured in the stunning photos include Utah Lee, Nike master trainer; Lynus Woo, fitness coach from REP; Kim Lu, head coach and George KC Iu, Zumba education specialist at MiU Training Hub, and Nicky Inge, marathon runner amongst others.

Apart from joining the series of fundraising fitness events, the public can also show their support by getting a limited-edition "Fit for Paws" instant tattoo designed Oh My Ink! 500 pieces of the limited-edition instant tattoo will be available at our events for purchase to raise funds for the SPCA to support its animal welfare efforts.

Don't miss: SPCA and Hello Kitty join hands to raise awareness of animal welfare

Back in May 2024, the SPCA partnered with Hello Kitty, a beloved character under Sanrio Hong Kong, to raise awareness of animal welfare. The year-long campaign also aimed to celebrate Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary and the inauguration of a brand-new SPCA centre in Tsing Yi.

Under the theme “Hello Kitty! Hello SPCA!”, the iconic Hello Kitty took on the role of an SPCA ambassador to bring together different generations of Hongkongers and introduce different facets of animal welfare affecting the society.
