Single in the public service? CMB wants to put love on your calendar

Coffee Meets Bagel (CMB) is turning its attention to Singapore's public sector employees ahead of the year-end festive season, offering them complimentary access to its premium dating service as a thank-you for serving the community.

The dating app is offering one month of CMB Premium to the first 1,000 eligible public service employees in Singapore, positioning the initiative as a nudge for workers to make room for meaningful connections alongside busy year-end schedules. The offer is open to both new and existing CMB users who do not have an active subscription.

To qualify, users must sign up or log in to CMB using a personal email address, complete Singpass verification and verify their work email through an in-app prompt. They must also complete their profile with at least two photos.

According to CMB, work email addresses collected as part of the initiative will be used strictly for verification purposes and will not be used for marketing communications.

The initiative comes as CMB looks to tap into the festive period, when calendars begin filling up with year-end leave and social gatherings, while encouraging public service employees to carve out time for dating and new connections.

In its LinkedIn post, the dating platform framed the initiative around finding connections that could extend beyond the holiday season, signing off with its signature message of making "more meaningful connections, one bagel at a time".

The move comes as Singapore's public sector has been getting a little more involved in the dating game. Earlier this month, the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) began piloting FirstDate, a dating platform for public officers aged 21 to 35 that swaps endless swiping for one carefully selected match at a time.

The Singpass-verified initiative matches participants based on compatibility, values and preferences, with users receiving one recommended match per matchmaking cycle, which takes place approximately once a month. The approach is designed to give singles more space to focus on building a connection rather than moving through a stream of profiles.
