



Shopee MY elevates Amelia Lim to head of corporate comms in expanded role

Amelia Lim has been elevated to head of corporate communications at Shopee Malaysia, while continuing in her current role as head of public relations at Sea Limited Malaysia.
In this expanded leadership capacity, Lim will now oversee the strategic direction of communications across both Shopee and Sea in Malaysia.
Her responsibilities will span from shaping integrated brand narratives and managing media relations to driving public policy engagement and fostering stakeholder trust. She will also bolster communications for Shopee Malaysia, aligning closely with its rapid growth and regional strategies.

Lim’s expanded remit now includes crisis and reputation management and building thought leadership for senior executives at Shopee Mobile Malaysia, alongside her ongoing work with Sea Limited Malaysia’s communications team.
Lim first joined Sea Limited Malaysia in 2024 where she was first appointed its head of public relations, leading all aspects of public relations, including developing and implementing communication strategies and brand building. In the role. she reports to Terence Siau, director and country head of Malaysia, Sea Limited.
She joined Sea Limited from Ampersand Advisory, where she led award-winning campaigns as head of PR. With nearly two decades of experience across agency and in-house roles, her previous leadership positions include head of brand and PR at TNG Digital, head of communications at GoBea and managing partner at boutique PR agency Perseid Consultancy.
“This new chapter allows me to deepen our communications impact across Shopee’s dynamic marketplace,” said Lim.
“I’m looking forward to taking on a dual role that enables stronger narrative alignment and continued trust-building with Malaysian consumers, partners, and policymakers," she added.
Her expanded role comes as Shopee Malaysia deepens its focus on strategic brand building amid rapid growth and an increasingly dynamic eCommerce landscape. This emphasis on innovation is reflected regionally as well.
In Indonesia, Shopee recently blurred the lines between entertainment and commerce by partnering with OTT platform Vidio to launch Vidio Shopping, an interactive shopping feature that allows viewers to shop directly within streaming content. The initiative introduces Vidio affiliate shopping ads, embedding clickable product banners and cart icons in select shows, including Premier League broadcasts and popular Vidio originals.
