PropertyGuru Malaysia and iamNEETA turn neighbourhood memories into music

PropertyGuru Malaysia has teamed up with alt-pop band IamNEETA for the debut episode of Kamar Irama, a new cultural content series that blends music, place, and personal stories to explore what makes a house feel like home.

Launched this week (7 August) on Kamar Irama’s YouTube channel, the first episode features an intimate acoustic set filmed at Shah Alam Extreme Park, right next to where the band played their first-ever gig in 2012 at the now-closed Senyap Cafe. The stripped-down performance includes fan favourites Jatuh Cinta (fall in love) and Sakit (hurt), along with a preview of a new single, Nangis (cry). Behind-the-scenes interviews and neighbourhood walkabout clips are also available on TikTok and Instagram.

Kamar Irama
takes a broader view of “home” by spotlighting the streets, stories, and cultural touchpoints that give neighbourhoods their character. The concept aligns with PropertyGuru’s H2 2024 consumer sentiment study, which found that Malaysians are increasingly prioritising public transport access, green spaces, and walkable communities over purely investment-led property choices.

“Through Kamar Irama, we are reimagining what it means to talk about property,” said Kar Wai Low, country marketing director for Malaysia & Thailand at PropertyGuru and iProperty. “It’s about human stories, the neighbourhoods that shape us, and cultural experiences that make home feel like home.”

For vocalist Neeta Manishaa, performing in Shah Alam was deeply nostalgic. “Even though the cafe is gone, this brought back memories from 13 years ago. Collaborating with PropertyGuru made it even more special. It’s a platform we actually use.”

Future episodes will feature Malaysia-based artists from diverse communities and meaningful locations nationwide, celebrating the intersections of music, space, and culture that make every neighbourhood uniquely Malaysian.

In May this year, PropertyGuru Malaysia brought heart and humour to the journey of purchasing one's first home, with the introduction of Kak Rosemah, a no-nonsense and sharp-tongued puppet, in its latest social-first series, #BelajarBersamaRosemah ('Learn together with Rosemah').

Rosemah, despite being a puppet, has a big dream of owning her own house. In the first episode of the series, she is seen experiencing a tinge of jealousy as she scrolls through videos of first-time homebuyers celebrating their property purchases online.
