Ogilvy Australia has appointed Cleber de Almeida as social strategy director within its Social@Ogilvy operation, bringing the international specialist to Sydney after more than 15 years with the agency in Brazil.
De Almeida most recently led Coca-Cola's social capability across Latin America and worked on the application of AI and social data to content production, including the Game Time Loop for Coca-Cola's FIFA World Cup 2026 activity, which he ran globally for WPP's OpenX.
His experience spans creative, strategy, data intelligence, community management and real-time activation, with the appointment adding international expertise to Ogilvy's unified social and influence capability.
Ogilvy Network ANZ CEO Kirsty Muddle said the appointment reflected the increasingly connected role of creativity, data and technology in social marketing.
“Social today sits at the intersection of creativity, data and speed. It takes ideas strong enough to earn attention, the intelligence to know where and when they will matter, and the capability to act in real time. Cleber brings all three and knows how to use WPP Open to connect them,” Muddle said.
Daniel Young, Ogilvy's group managing director, social and influence, said de Almeida's global brand experience would strengthen the Australian and regional team.
“He brings a unique blend of global brand experience teamed with innovation and leading-edge social application. We’re excited to have this expertise both within the Australian and regional team,” Young said.
De Almeida said he was looking forward to applying his experience in a new market.
“I’m looking forward to working within a new region that is clearly driven by constant innovation and an ability to apply both proven tools and approaches and develop new ways of thinking to drive growth,” he said.
His appointment is effective immediately.
