Not one pub, but 40? Guinness brings St Patrick’s celebrations across Malaysia

Guinness is turning Malaysia into a month-long St Patrick’s playground, rolling out festive activations across more than 40 bars and pubs nationwide.

The initiative marks the brand’s annual celebration of St. Patrick's Day, inviting stout lovers across the country to gather over a perfectly poured pint throughout March.

The festivities kicked off at The Square at Jaya One with a lively Irish-style parade featuring bagpipers and drummers, setting the tone for a nationwide series of in-outlet experiences, promotions and social moments inspired by the spirit of Ireland.

For more than 260 years, Guinness has been closely associated with St Patrick’s Day celebrations globally. Known for its deep ruby body and signature creamy head, the stout has become synonymous with shared rituals, craftsmanship and convivial gatherings.

At the heart of this year’s Malaysian celebrations is the Double the Guinness experience, inspired by the brand’s iconic two-part pouring ritual.

Consumers who purchase a Guinness Draught set at participating outlets will receive a token that allows them to take part in the challenge. The activity invites participants to replicate the look of a perfectly poured pint, mirroring the distinctive settle-and-top technique associated with the stout.

Those who successfully match the visual standard of a perfect pour will be rewarded with a pint of Guinness Draught served in the brand’s signature glass, subject to the respective outlet’s terms and conditions.

Alongside the interactive experience, participating outlets will also run a limited-time promotion where consumers who purchase two sets of Guinness Draught will receive an additional pint.

According to Joyce Lim, marketing manager at Guinness Malaysia, the campaign is designed to recreate the communal spirit traditionally associated with the Irish holiday. “Guinness has long been at the heart of St Patrick’s Day,” she said. “More than an Irish stout, it represents heritage, craft and the shared ritual of raising a pint together," she said.

“This St Patrick’s, we invite stout lovers to come together to share stories, laughter and meaningful moments in celebration of the occasion.”By extending the celebrations across dozens of outlets nationwide, the brand aims to bring the festive atmosphere typically seen in Irish pubs to Malaysian bars, turning St Patrick’s into a collective social moment for local consumers.

This comes in tandem with Guinness' St Patrick's Day three-week long celebration in Singapore. The Irish stout is taking the pub vibe out of four walls and onto the streets, blending local charm with Irish merriment to make every gathering “A lovely day for a Guinness”.

The celebrations kick off with "The Guinness hangout", a pop-up experience at Emerald Hill (26 to 27 February) and Far East Square (5 to 6 March). Visitors can enjoy complimentary half pints, live music, interactive activities, and bites from the island’s top pubs.
