Meta is putting more AI and marketing tools behind paid subscriptions

Meta is putting more AI and marketing tools behind paid subscriptions

Meta is expanding its subscription model beyond consumer perks, putting more advanced marketing, analytics, AI and customer-service capabilities behind paid tiers for creators and businesses across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

The move marks a broader push by Meta to turn its platforms into more of an operating layer for businesses, rather than simply channels for reaching audiences. The company said its new Meta One subscriptions will give businesses and creators access to tools spanning content creation, audience insights, publishing, customer engagement and optimisation, while the core experience across its apps remains free.

At the centre of the business offering is Meta Business Agent, an AI-powered tool designed to respond to customers on a business's behalf. Meta said the agent can handle customer interactions around the clock, with capabilities intended to help businesses capture leads and drive sales.

The company is also adding more tools aimed at making social platforms easier to manage as a marketing operation. These include deeper audience insights, exportable analytics, more advanced publishing capabilities and the ability for teams to access accounts without sharing passwords.

Meta said it plans to build on this with more AI agent capabilities across marketing, business operations, content creation and optimisation.

For creators, the strategy similarly moves beyond content generation. An upcoming Edits Plus plan will give users more AI credits and cloud storage, as well as an AI assistant that can use Instagram insights to help creators analyse performance and brainstorm content.

That reflects a growing role for AI within Meta's platforms, not just as a way to produce content but as a tool for deciding what to create and how to optimise it.

Meta said more than 50 features have been introduced across its subscription plans to date, with 15 million subscriptions and trials recorded so far.

The company is rolling out Meta One globally with separate offerings for individuals, creators and businesses. In Singapore, business and creator plans start at SG$17.99 a month, while higher tiers cost up to SG$469 a month.

The business tiers are split into Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max. Advanced and above include capabilities such as scheduling Stories up to 30 days in advance, adding links to organic posts and Reels, exporting analytics and accessing deeper audience insights, with higher tiers offering increased access to Meta Business Agent.

Meta is also offering individual subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, alongside Core and Premium bundles that provide greater access to AI-powered creation tools. Individual plans start at SG$1.99 a month in Singapore.

The company stressed that its core apps and Meta AI will continue to be available for free, with subscriptions intended for users seeking additional capabilities.

The move builds on Meta's broader push to make AI a more practical tool for businesses. Earlier this year, the company introduced capabilities allowing businesses to connect Meta AI with their advertising and account analytics, enabling the assistant to analyse campaign performance, identify patterns in high-performing creative and audiences, and suggest changes to budgets and content.

Meta also expanded the assistant's access to organic Facebook and Instagram performance data, allowing businesses to query metrics such as reach, shares, saves and profile visits, as well as set up recurring performance reports. The company has said the aim is to make AI recommendations more specific by grounding them in a business's own content, audience and performance data.

The latest move takes that approach further by bringing AI, analytics, publishing and customer engagement tools into a broader paid offering for creators and businesses.

Meta began rolling out paid subscriptions across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in May, while also testing a broader Meta One subscription umbrella for individual users, creators, businesses and Meta AI users.
