Mediasense has appointed Sam Tomlinson (pictured) as chief executive officer, succeeding Jamie Posnanski, who has returned to the United States to focus on personal commitments.

Tomlinson joined mediasense in 2024 as chief client officer following the acquisition of PwC's UK marketing and media advisory business, which he founded and led. With over 25 years' experience advising senior marketers and major advertisers, he is recognised for his work across marketing advisory, governance and transformation.

Graham Brown, founder and director of mediasense, said: "When we welcomed Tomlinson and his team into mediasense in 2024, we brought one of the industry's most respected marketing advisory leaders into the business. Since then, he has had a clear impact on our clients, our people and our strategic direction."

He added, "Tomlinson brings strong commercial insight, deep client knowledge and a very clear view of where marketing is heading. The Board is confident he is the right person to lead mediasense and delighted he has agreed to take on this role. I would also like to thank Jamie Posnanski for his contribution to mediasense and wish him all the best for the future."

Tomlinson added, "Joining mediasense was an easy decision because of the quality of its people, clients and independent perspective. Over the past two years, I have seen first-hand the ambition of this business and the opportunity ahead. Marketing is entering a new era. AI, changing operating models and rising demand for accountability are reshaping how organisations plan for, make decisions and implement transformation."

"Marketers need clear, independent advice, now more than ever and mediasense is well placed to help them navigate that change. I'm honoured to lead the business built by Graham Brown, Andy Pearch, Greg Paull and Shufen Goh, and excited to work in partnership with Ryan Kangisser and the rest of the leadership team to continue building the industry's most trusted independent marketing advisor," Tomlinson explained.

Meanwhile, Shufen Goh will continue to lead the APAC region in her role as president, APAC. She said, "Tomlinson's decades of compliance and advisory expertise across brands, agencies and media platforms - from his time at PwC to now leading mediasense - have helped build the financial and governance practice within our company. This is particularly valuable to APAC marketers and the procurement community, who are building better governance and measurement frameworks in an increasingly complex and opaque ecosystem."
