The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has officially opened a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint a new social media agency to enhance its digital presence and engagement. The RFP invites qualified Malaysian-registered agencies to submit proposals to deliver strategic and creative social media services that support MDEC’s communication objectives.
The selected agency will be tasked with strengthening MDEC’s online presence, boosting audience engagement, and ensuring the consistent, timely, and impactful delivery of content across all relevant social media platforms.
The RFP will be on sale from 5 January 2026 at 12:00 PM, with a briefing session scheduled for 8 January 2026 at 3:00 PM. Agencies can access the briefing via a QR code provided in the RFP document. Submissions close on 16 January 2026 at 6:00 PM, with interested vendors required to register and submit proposals through MDEC’s online tender portal at tenders.mdec.com.my.

In its announcement, MDEC encouraged all eligible responding organisations to attend the briefing session, citing it as an opportunity to gain clarity on submission requirements and project expectations. Queries and feedback on the RFP will also be handled through the portal, and by contacting Shafie Razak (shafie.razak@mdec.com.my).
This comes three months after MDEC named Frank Chan as its new director of strategic communications. Reporting directly to the CEO, Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chan will work closely with the leadership team to strengthen the organisation’s positioning as the heart of Malaysia’s digital economy.
In his new role, Chan was set to lead MDEC’s overall strategic narrative, overseeing both internal and external communications. “My responsibility is to ensure our communications directly support Malaysia’s digital ambitions,” he told A+M exclusively. His immediate priorities include listening and learning from the current landscape, refining MDEC’s storytelling, and engaging audiences through genuine two-way dialogue.
Back in 2024, MDEC had appointed global strategic communications agency Burson as its new public relations agency of record. The appointment followed a competitive pitch process to identify a capable PR agency to work with collaboratively strengthening MDEC's communication strategies and stakeholder engagements.
According to a statement seen by A+M, Burson was selected for its global reach, deep insights and capability to support MDEC's mission of accelerating Malaysia's digital transformation.
