Malay-language newspaper Berita Harian has launched a new young audience platform to present news on social media in a more relatable and engaging way.
OMGxBH (Orang Muda Gitew) was designed to resonate with the vibrant energy of young adults aged 21-34 years old.
It aims to set a new standard for news engagement for young audiences, complementing Berita Harian’s stable of established digital and print products.

With a blend of captivating storytelling, engaging content, and a commitment to understanding the pulse of today's youth, OMGxBH aims to be the go-to credible product for the young audience, it said in a media fact sheet.
OMGxBH currently has 37,000 followers across its social media platforms. The cornerstone of OMGxBH’s success lies in its deep understanding of its target audience.
Recognising the evolving media habits of young people, OMGxBH delivers content where they thrive – on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. By embracing bilingualism (Malay/English), OMGxBH ensures inclusivity while appealing to a diverse audience base locally and regionally.
Whether it's bite-sized infotainment in "Tahu Tak?" and "Panas" or in-depth Malay-centric and youth related discussions on adulting issues in "Senang Kata", OMGxBH ensures there is something for everyone, it said.
OMGxBH also has the “Spotlight” series, which highlights interesting profiles aimed to inspire the young audience, from championing social causes to featuring young talents.
It also features entertaining and relatable rapid-fire style of interviews with former president, Madam Halimah Yacob, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Maliki Osman and former Bank of Singapore CEO, Mr Bahren Shaari.
By embracing various content types – from static posts to long-form videos – OMGxBH keeps its audience engaged across different platforms.
Behind every OMGxBH video is a meticulous process driven by data and audience insights. The team's relentless pursuit of understanding what resonates with their audience fuels their creativity and innovation, it said.
By leveraging data analytics, OMGxBH crafts content that not only entertains but also informs and inspires
At the heart of OMGxBH is a commitment to empowering young journalists and creators. By fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration, OMGxBH ensures that its content reflects the authentic voices and experiences of its target audience.
Looking ahead in the fast-paced digital age, capturing the attention of the youth requires more than just headlines – it demands authenticity, creativity, and a deep understanding of their preferences.
As OMGxBH continues to evolve, one thing remains constant – a dedication to pushing the boundaries of storytelling. With upcoming projects set to redefine visual narratives, OMGxBH aims to collaborate with more partners to further engage the young audience, SPH said.
Berita Harian (BH) and OMGxBH have also launched its monthly "OMGxBH Jauhari Series: Inspiring The Young" series, supported by government feedback unit REACH.
The monthly dialogue session features past recipients of the Berita Harian Achiever of the Year award, where they share inspirational stories, and their life experiences based on the theme during the fireside chat.
It also presents a channel for youths to seek advice and share their aspirations, allowing a conversation to keep them motivated and on track. Each session, held at the (working title) cafe at LASALLE College of the Arts, is in English and is open to all youths between 18-35 years old.
It aims to engage 80 youths, comprising tertiary students and young PMETs, in engaging topics that are close to the heart of the youths.
