lululemon and Mind HK reframe HK’s ‘rush culture’ fitness

Lululemon has been named local mental health charity Mind HK’s wellbeing and movement partner, supported by “lululemon Gives” - the brand’s global initiative dedicated to advancing mental health solutions through movement and mindfulness.
Under the partnership, the two organisations will champion mental wellbeing through community experiences, movement-based programming, and public education initiatives aimed at amplifying the psychological benefits of physical activity.
The collaboration stems from a joint survey by Mind HK and lululemon of 506 Hong Kong residents aged 25 to 64, which uncovered a stark disconnect between physical exercise and mental restoration in the city's fast-paced environment.
While 63% of respondents valued the health benefits of staying active, fewer than half actually enjoyed it, and nearly 30% viewed exercise as just another task on their to-do list. Furthermore, 30% reported feeling physically active yet mentally exhausted, with nearly a quarter admitting they felt like a failure if they went a period without exercising.
Digital distractions also proved pervasive, with 45% of respondents checking messages during workouts and 25% struggling to disconnect from their phones entirely. The study also highlighted an unfulfilled social need, noting that while nearly 60% of respondents enjoyed physical activity more when exercising with others, almost half still worked out alone.
To bridge this gap between social motivation and physical movement, lululemon is launching “space to feel”—a two-day harbourfront event taking place on 24 and 25 October at Harbour City’s Ocean Terminal Deck in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Designed as a physical and mental reset, the venue will feature four distinct thematic zones running from morning to night. The main stage will host interactive sessions led by lululemon ambassadors that combine yoga, aromatherapy, artistic expression, Cantopop dance, and high-energy fitness.
Over at the Mindful Staircase facing Victoria Harbour, attendees can follow guided meditations by Ambassadors Delia Leung and Valerie Lui, as well as attend a dedicated mental wellbeing panel featuring Mind HK counselling psychologist Opal Li, singer-songwriter Serrini, and ambassador Charlotte Lam.
Rounding out the event, the Sensory Dome will offer a six-station immersive journey incorporating local Hong Kong soundscapes and custom aromatherapy, while the Community Village will feature partner activations from Bless, Domayn Audio-Visual Mask, JOMO, and Mind HK, alongside interactive prize games.
Following the weekend launch, lululemon will continue the momentum with its "Recovery series" from 26 October to 8 November, partnering with 12 local fitness, yoga, spin, and running studios to offer 18 dual-class experiences that encourage Hongkongers to integrate holistic recovery into their daily routines.
Brian Cupps, vice president, brand marketing, APAC at lululemon, said: "The research reminds us that making time for exercise is only one part of the equation. Equally important is being intentional about why we're moving and how we experience it. Through our partnership with Mind HK and initiatives such as “space to feel”, we hope to create more opportunities for people to engage with movement in ways that support recovery, connection and overall wellbeing."
Inez Leong, lululemon Ambassador, shared: "One of the things I love most about movement is its ability to bring people together. Whether it's a run or a walk with friends, those shared experiences help us feel more connected and more present. I'm excited to see more opportunities for Hong Kong people to experience movement not just as exercise, but as a way to support mental wellbeing and build community."
