If 2020 was ‘the year of eCommerce’, it’s only fitting that Lazada Malaysia was crowned “Marketer of the Year” at the Marketing Excellence Awards 2020 Malaysia. The eCommerce juggernaut earned the title by winning five gold and two silver trophies to edge out the competition.

Campaigns such as “Lazada 11.11 Shopping Festival”, “Lazada 12.12 Grand Year End Sale”, and “WeCommerce 2019” helped them secure gold in four categories including Excellence in eCommerce Marketing, Excellence in Experiential Marketing, and Excellence in Shopper Marketing.

Diana Boo (pictured below), Lazada Malaysia’s CMO, contributed to the haul by bagging gold for Marketing Innovator of the Year and silver for CMO of the Year.

Coming in second place was beverage company Etika, who confirmed their status as a marketing powerhouse with one gold, six silver and six bronze for a range of campaigns, in particular WONDA Coffee. The campaign “WONDA 3in1: The HOT New Arrival” took home the gold for Excellence in Integrated Marketing. In the end, two points separated Etika from Lazada Malaysia this year.

RHB Banking Group, QSR Brands, BFM 89.9, Coca-Cola Far East, Axiata & Celcom Axiata, Taylor's Education Group, Grab Malaysia, Heineken Malaysia and AIA Malaysia were some of the other standout brands of the evening, winning in at least four categories respectively.

Now in its eight year, the Marketing Excellence Awards 2020 was held as a virtual ceremony in order to comply with Malaysia’s Movement Control Order to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

Judged solely by an independent panel of esteemed industry leaders and updated each year with new categories that cater to the modern marketer, A+M's Marketing Excellence Awards has become the premier platform for brands to showcase their marketing excellence in campaigns across Malaysia. This year, the awards were judged by 27 senior marketers from leading brands including CIMB Bank, Digi Telecommunications, FJ Benjamin, Hilton, Maxis, McDonald’s, Sephora, YTL Hotels and many more.

The A+M  team would like to extend a huge thank you to our entire judging panel for giving up their valuable time to thoroughly review and score every single entry.

Congratulations to all of our finalists and outstanding winners – we look forward to seeing more of your excellence at MEA 2021!
