Kayo and Foxtel notch most-watched Big Bash season as streaming-led growth accelerates

The 2025/26 KFC Big Bash League season has become the most-watched BBL of all time across Kayo Sports and the wider Foxtel Group, underlining the growing weight of streaming in Australia’s premium sports ecosystem.

Driven by digital consumption, the season delivered 1.1 billion minutes streamed, up 9% year-on-year, and recorded the highest average audience ever for a BBL season on Kayo Sports and across Foxtel Group platforms.

The Finals series also set new benchmarks, becoming the most-watched BBL Finals in the competition’s history. The Qualifier, Challenger and Knockout Final each ranked as the most-watched matches of their kind.

FOX Sports managing director Steve Crawley said continued investment in broadcast production and coverage innovation was resonating with audiences.

“It has been a privilege bringing every ball of this exhilarating BBL season to our customers,” Crawley said. “Each year we continue to innovate our coverage, anchored by our world class commentary team.

“Our production this season clearly resonated with audiences, driving the most-watched Big Bash League season to date and building on the successes of our massive ‘Summer of Cricket’.”

Regular season viewing was led by the Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, with Brisbane’s clash against the Scorchers - featuring a record-breaking run chase - becoming the most-streamed regular-season BBL match of all time.

Off-platform engagement also reached new highs. Across Kayo Sports’ social channels, BBL|15 generated 128 million impressions, 106 million video views and 5.2 million engagements, marking the league’s biggest social season to date.

Cricket Australia executive general manager of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson said the results reinforced the league’s scale and global standing.

“BBL|15 has been a record-breaking season capped off by another incredible performance by the Perth Scorchers as they claimed a record sixth Big Bash League title,” Dobson said.

“The broadcast and attendance numbers from The Finals series and season at large confirm the BBL as one of the biggest and most popular T20 Leagues in world cricket.

“The success of the competition is not possible without the outstanding support of our broadcast partners, and we thank FOX Sports for their ongoing support of the BBL.”

The BBL performance builds on a strong run of momentum for Kayo Sports, with the 2025/26 Ashes becoming the most-streamed Test series of all time on the platform, while the 2025 Supercars Championship also delivered its highest streaming numbers ever.

Foxtel Group will continue its ‘Summer of Cricket’ coverage with the Australia v India Women’s series streaming live, in HD and ad-break free during play, on Kayo Sports and Foxtel from 15 February.
