Jollibee says fraudulent third parties rigged 'burger blowout' promo

Jollibee said that fraudulent third parties rigged its “burger blowout” promotion by submitting fake entries, prompting the company to disqualify major prize winners from the third week of the draw.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the fast-food giant said, “fraudulent third parties had deliberately exploited the systems in place by submitting multiple unauthorised entries despite existing safeguards.”

The company has requested approval from the department of trade and industry (DTI) to temporarily suspend subsequent raffle draws. “With DTI’s approval, the invalid major prize winners from the Week 3 draw have been disqualified, and a re-draw will be conducted to ensure fairness and compliance with the rules,” Jollibee added.

Netizens had previously raised doubts over the draw, which featured unusual names such as “Bonita Gulgowski,” “Albert Goldner,” and “Norbert Pfannerstill.”

The DTI later confirmed it was coordinating with Jollibee to review the promo mechanics following public concerns. The department also assured consumers that it would remain steadfast in ensuring promotional activities are “fair and transparent.”

As a gesture of appreciation to its community, Jollibee will also hold a special raffle, offering more customers a chance to win. The schedules for the Week 3 re-draw, Weeks 4-6 draws, and the special raffle will be announced soon.

Recently, Jollibee reported a strong Q2 2025, with consolidated revenues rising 15.5% and operating income up 19.1%. The Philippine business grew steadily, led by Jollibee and Mang Inasal, while international markets surged, driven by the coffee and tea segment and Jollibee Vietnam.

The company - which rebranded to unify its 19-brand portfolio under a single purpose - continues to expand its global footprint, now operating over 10,000 stores, while its capital-light franchising strategy and Compose Coffee’s rapid rollout signal strong momentum for the year ahead.

Jollibee has also relaunched its delivery app, making it faster, easier, and more rewarding for Filipinos to get their favourite meals. With a sleek interface, self pick-up options, exclusive deals, and the playful “Joy Run” mini game, the app combines convenience with engagement, reflecting the brand’s push to meet the expectations of a mobile-first generation.
