Jobstreet PH flags rise in part-time and specialised roles as AI reshapes hiring

Jobstreet by SEEK has reported a sharp rise in part-time and specialised roles in the Philippines, as employers respond to shifting workforce expectations and the growing integration of AI into business operations.
According to the platform’s latest data for the first quarter of 2026, call centre and customer service roles remain the most in-demand, accounting for 13.9% of total job listings. Accounting roles follow at 12.5%, closely trailed by information and communication technology positions at 12.4%.
Administrative and office support roles made up 11.8% of listings, while manufacturing, transport and logistics roles accounted for 10.7%. Sales roles represented 10.3%, with engineering (6.5%) and retail and consumer products (6.3%) also featuring prominently. Marketing and communications (5.6%), alongside human resources and recruitment (5.3%), rounded out the top ten.

While these categories have remained relatively stable over the past year, Jobstreet by SEEK highlighted a notable increase in demand for part-time and highly specialised roles, including AI engineers and data analysts. The platform said this shift reflects a broader transformation in hiring strategies, pushing candidates to prioritise upskilling and reskilling.
Part-time roles, in particular, have surged by 35% year-on-year, with more than 4,000 new postings recorded so far in 2026. The growth is largely attributed to employers tapping into global talent pools, alongside the continued normalisation of hybrid and remote work models.
This evolution, the company noted, underscores a dual focus among employers on cost-efficiency and improved work-life balance offerings.
AI adoption is emerging as a central force behind these changes. As more organisations embed AI into their operations, demand is rising for “human-in-the-loop” roles – positions that require professionals to oversee, manage, and optimise automated systems.
“The future of work in the Philippines is anchored on trust, augmentation, and continuous upskilling. While AI is fundamentally changing how we work, it’s not a direct replacement of talent. Rather, it is creating emerging roles that require a human overseer for these automated processes, so employees can focus more on high-thinking critical decision making,” said Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK managing director in the Philippines.
In response to growing demand for talent, Jobstreet by SEEK has partnered with the department of labour and employment (DOLE) for the 124th Labour Day Job Fair, which begins on 1 May. The initiative will feature more than 115,000 job opportunities across 88 sites nationwide, with online applications also available.
The collaboration signals a continued push to bridge talent gaps as the labour market evolves – one increasingly defined by flexibility, digital capability, and human-AI collaboration.
